Fallout 3 won the highly-coveted Game of the Year award Wednesday night at the Ninth Annual Game Developers Choice Awards presented at the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco.

The GDC awards are the most prestigious and meaningful in the entire industry, if you believe that developers know anything about what makes a game good. Every game they recognize is something that needs to be played, no questions asked.

Interestingly, they recognized Shadow of the Colossus as the best game of its year, and Wii Sports as the most important game of its own.
