Forums - General - I have never seen an article so offensive to Christianity as this

Just for those who don't get it. Theories and laws are different things. Laws are generally more specific while theories are more general, a theory does not become a law when it gains more evidence, it remains a theory, just a theory that is accepted as correct by the scientific community.

so, saying that a leading scientific theory with evidence to support is better than a theory that has 0 evidence to support it and is based on texts that are thousands of years old is offensive to you?

First off: Science has no ability to prove or disprove religion.  So yes, there is 0 evidence to support Christianity.

Second off: It is fine to teach it as a theory.  However, the schools are not teaching it as a theory, but as a fact.  The main problem is his attitude to the Christians who believe it should be taught as a theory.

Teacher: And the letter "A" is the first letter of the alphabet.

Student: Only in your opinion.

Horrible example.... that is a fact.... Evolution theory is a theory not fact. Just as you can say im not gonna believe that god created the earth in 7 days i can say i dont believe that my great great great great great .... grandfather was a monkey

Wow, and here I thought it was a bit overkill for everyone to state and restate in every post what it means to be a scientific theory....

Maybe they should all have written it in flashing colors.

No, really. Obviously it's not a great example. Did you really think I'd bother de-piecing your argument when a bajillion other people are willing to do it instead and do a better job anyways?

While the article is overly abrasive for no real reason, Creationists deserve to be taken to task for attempting to fuck up our childrens' educations.

PS. Some of you really need to look up what it means to be a scientific theory.

You're gonna have to write that last part in bolded flashing colors if you want them to actually read it. Maybe put in a voice over for "you've been selected to win a free Apple iPod Mini" in it.

:P

I'm only poking fun because it's been said so many times in this thread already, but they don't seem to read/understand it.

I posted what a scientific theory is three times and you still managed to ignore it.

Maybe they should all have written it in flashing colors.

"The State Board of Education voted on the science standards — the list of basic scientific knowledge students should have at various grade levels, like knowing that atoms are the basic building blocks of matter, the Earth goes around the Sun, and — say — evolution is the basic and most fundamental aspect upon which all of modern biology is based."

Evolution is a theory and should be treated as such, that is my argument.... when they uncover a focil that looks like this

wake up please

Heh, I didn't even know what creationism/intelligent design was until I saw an Ali-G piece on it last year.

I don't feel like I've missed out on much.
