Forums - Microsoft - Microsoft have dropped the ball, do they remember the 360 is a VG Console?

Looks like they are waiting till E3 I guess.

It's alright I already got my entire plate full this year once Max Payne 3 was announced. I limit myself to $1,200 a year on games and I still got a DS and Wii to purchase for (PS2's last year of any decent games possibly?) so I'm alright.

I'd like to know if Forza and Alan Wake will actually make it out this year, that could put a hurt on my wallet if I overspend.

It's just that simple.

You do realize this is GDC and not E3 right? Not trying to be a smart ass, but I usually don't expect much for any of the console makers at GDC. It usually centers around the developers and not the consumers.

This, 100 times this.

Twesterm is right. E3 09' is way more important than GDC and the games will be announced midway through the year when they are ready to be announced.

they still have tomorrow.

but gdc was never a time to announce games. more like features the most exciting thing sony announced is devkit reduction, cross game chat, and the phyreengine. none of those are games... the games that were announced were all 3rd party.

Yeah, the GDC is Game Developers Conference. It's all about nifty new things for Game Developers.

MS also said last year that they were not going to be making major game announcements until E3.

Yet, today, America's leaders are reenacting every folly that brought these great powers [Russia, Germany, and Japan] to ruin -- from arrogance and hubris, to assertions of global hegemony, to imperial overstretch, to trumpeting new 'crusades,' to handing out war guarantees to regions and countries where Americans have never fought before. We are piling up the kind of commitments that produced the greatest disasters of the twentieth century.

I thought Splinter Cell was a Playstation game...

No it's primarily an Xbox/Xbox 360 and PC franchise. It's appeared on Sony and Nintendo platforms in the past but the ports have always been lousy in comparison. The new one is scheduled to only release on Xbox 360 and PC this time, and if history is any indication, Wii and PS3 fans are lucky for this.

This is Microsoft we are talking about. They have more than 1 card up their sleeve.

I just don't think we will get much info till E3.

Press----------------> <----------------Press

This kinda remind me of Sony's TGS fiasco. Wait for TGS! Wait for TGS guys! We're gonna show you... NOTHING!

I've never wanted letter bomb someone as bad as then.

At least it's GDC though and not E3, I'm still optimistic about this years E3 showing for all here home consoles. After the absolute disaster that was last year's E3 I think all three console manufactorers have a lot to make up for.

They may have decided to not do much for GDC, but make an announcement/press release afterwards. I wouldn't despair - from the industry side, the 360 is the favored choice for developers, even with the Wii selling as much as it does. Be patient.

Too many people are trying to turn GDC into E3. We shouldn't expect new game releases all the time.

at E3 they will announce 2-3 big games for holiday(one being halo ODST)and some other games.

but remember that packed holiday line up is not such a smart move on X360 this year, since COD:MW2 and halo ODST are coming out. Those 2 will get ,most of the sales from X360 shooter loving crowd. The rest will have to fight with one another for decent sales.

This is not true. Check last year!

  • Call of Duty World at War (>5 million)
  • Gears of War 2 (4.75 million)
  • Fable 2 (2.7 million)
  • Fallout 3 (2.25 million)
  • Left 4 Dead (> 2 million)

5 games - 3 Shooter, 2 RPGs, every title crossed 2 million.

This year

  • Modern Warfare 2
  • Halo ODST
  • Bioshock 2
  • Forza 3
  • Alan Wake
  • Splinter Cell

This is the line-up I can imagine right now, which looks great. There are probably 3 shooters, just like last year. Of course the userbase got bigger by 10-12 million by then, so I think we shouldn't worry about that.

But as I said here:

http://www.vgchartz.com/forum/thread.php?id=65643&page=1

MS will break the bank at e3.

Imagine not having GamePass on your console...
