  1. Missing the point-- people are bitching about not having money and then buying dumb shit like marijuana.  It's almost as dumb as smoking marijuana.
  2. I'm not going to argue the rights and wrongs of smoking pot.  I'm not even sorry that I think everyone who regularly smokes pot (or does any drug) is a fucking moron.

Just because marijuana is 'cheap' (Isn't it more costly than tobacco-based cigs?), it doesn't mean that it's a smart thing to do. TW is correct in saying it's moronic, especially with those that complain about income.

Drugs, Tobacco and Alcohol are the 3 WORST things you can buy if you are on a budget, or receiving any assitance. They do not provide any benefit to ones life, other than the store that sells the goods. Because of this, it's a very bad thing to allow if your being assisted by the government.

I've councelled a lot of people as a youth pastor concerning finances. The first thing I always ask is if they smoke, chew, or drink. It's a one-time usage item that is exceedingly expensive, and provides no benefit in the way that any other kind of food would. It serves as a great way to destroy any kind of budget you want to establish: As a smoker or drinker, you will spend very high amounts of money to keep up with the addiction, which leads to financial ruin. In many cases of poverty, it's a major issue that keeps their family in poverty: The mom or dad would rather keep buying their Malboros, Jack Daniels, or Mary Jane, than save the money, budget properly, and get out of debt.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

Well, smokes and booze are only expensive since it is so heavily taxed.
"Sin" taxes are unfairly aimed at the working poor.

Yet, today, America's leaders are reenacting every folly that brought these great powers [Russia, Germany, and Japan] to ruin -- from arrogance and hubris, to assertions of global hegemony, to imperial overstretch, to trumpeting new 'crusades,' to handing out war guarantees to regions and countries where Americans have never fought before. We are piling up the kind of commitments that produced the greatest disasters of the twentieth century.

Rich people take drugs too.

Yup, and that $3 a pack of smokes must be a huge deterrent to rich people.

People would be outraged if a law was passed that said "poor people are not allowed to buy alcohol or tobacco", yet the sin tax tries to do the same thing.

I was about to keep arguing in the direction I was going in but...

I finally realized what was bothering me so much about your attitudes.

Govt: We think you have a problem. So now you get to go live on the streets.

This is what this would equate to. This is why its bothering me. I thought hobos were a bad thing too?

Couldn't they enter a rehab?

My problem is that I work and I have to succumb to random drug testing by my employer. Why shouldn't somebody have to do this who is merely being given money? I'm the one working. Maybe we should be fighting over people like me and you and whether we should be randomly tested and stop worrying so much about the minority of people that take government handouts.

There are very few people that can not work, and by work I mean contribute to society in a positive manner.

The problem is people that do not want to work, and free government handouts makes this possible.

Can you even go to rehab for pot? Considering that it isn't dehabilitating in the first place. To those of you who think it is, your opinion only matters if you've ever tried it. Otherwise you're just gullible and eating up propaganda like candy.

Theres no reason why the govt should just screw over the people they think have a problem giving them REAL problems, rather than the victimless crime they were committing in the first place.

Compared to living on the streets and not having food, drugs aren't even close to being a significant problem unless you are a heroin, meth, or crack addict.

Also, I realize you are a troll but I would also like to state again, theres a lot of people who can't find work right now because there aren't any jobs. Seen the unemployment rate lately?
