ps3's low numbers could be because there's a rumored price cut and anyone who heard this wouldnt buy one now when they could get it $50-$100 cheaper a month or two later

No, they're low because the demand for the PS3 at the current price point is not as high as last year.  Quite simply not as many people want to pay so much for it anymore.  The general public do not have a clue of any rumoured price cut.

and u no this how?

I have a crystal ball, I also read an awful lot.

what does reading a lot have to do with u knowing what the general public thinks? maybe ur right but u say it like its fact when its ur opinion. a lot of ppl that i no that arent hardcore gamers/people who read forums have heard of a possible price cut and are waiting for it before they buy their ps3.

Sorry mate, it did come across as fact the way I stated it.

Personally I think my opinion is definately correct based off past sales trends and the results of price cuts, of course there is no way to prove that as fact, it's a trend.  I doubt there are very many people at all who would read about any rumoured price cut and then actually proceed to halt their purchase because of the rumour.  I personally think the percentage doing that would be insignificant especially when you consider the yoy figures for the PS3.  Also don't forget all those people who were claiming a price cut last year in November, until there is more definite confirmation one is coming the effects of rumours are minimal.

Also reading can give you perspective on what people and their friends/family think of the current consoles.  There aren't many forums I read about people asking if they should hold off buying in case of a price cut right now.

PS3 is doing pretty amazing considering it was outsold by only 30k despite 100-200$ higher price tag.

IMHO if they are smart they will wait with price drop till September to have great holiday season.
