You all know imdb is similar to wikipedia in terms of content, right?

Meaning it should be a primary source of knowledge on a particular subject?

Around the Network

They should cgi the movie imo.

First of all, the fact that he directed Ultraviolet doesn't mean much. That wasn't a bad movie, perhaps the script wasn't the best (which he did write), but MGS will be based on Kojima's story (which answers a question about about him being the "writer.").

Anyway, Wimmer also directed Equilibirum, which apparently none of you have seen, because it's a decent movie. The styles of the 2 movies were quite different, as well.

I don't have high hopes for this movie because the game is a movie itself and, like a book, has more time to flesh out story than a movie does. Also, part of the genius of the game will be lost because the interactivity is gone. Psycho Mantis won't be the same...but perhaps they can still do something unique with it...perhaps a 3D version that has some tricks (having to take off your 3d glasses?). We'll see.

A Metal Gear Solid movie strikes me as redundant.

Why wouldn't him directing Ultraviolet mean much? A lot of people don't like that movie even moving past the horrible script, myself included. I've seen Equilibrium also and it isn't much better. There's a certain style that connects both movies, and I shudder to think it might be employed in a film like Metal Gear Solid. A story outline presented by a game hasn't helped movies in the past like Silent Hill, Resident Evil and Max Payne, because studios never ever ever stick to the original content, and/or directors want to stretch their wings and make it their own.
