GDC 09: Team Ico Game to be closer to Ico than SotC
  by Shak

During a joint panel at GDC 2009, the developers of Shadow of Colossus, Fallout 3 and No More Heroes all spoke of their latest projects.

Goichi Suda, creator of No More Heroes, took the chance to ask a question that's been on everyone's lips.

"I think I'll represent everybody's question in asking about Mr. Ueda's new game."

Fumito Ueda, creator of Ico and Shadow of the Colossus, let loose some information regarding Team ICO's next game, after being initially secretive about the game.

"...Well, probably it will be similar to the past... we are struggling. The essence of the game is rather close to Ico."

WWell folks there it is.  Let's hope that all that struggling gives another timeless classic!

What do you think, is this a step in the right direction?

I think it should be more like Call of Duty 4 and less like ICO

That would be one giant leap... in the wrong direction.

Ico and Shadow of the Colossus are both amazing games.  I don't care what the new one ends up being closer to, as long as it is just as good (or better) than their first two games.

NICE!!!! i enjoyed ico more myself so this makes me happy (:

Damnit, stop teasing us.

Darn I see darth trumped me on this one :) I'm so excited about this game anyway. This is getting to be a very expensive generation my friends!

That isn't even what that quote is saying, argh!

Ueda treats Shadow of the Colossus and ICO as experiences that are supposed to affect you the same way, just in different trappings!

This just means that physical touch and loneliness are once again going to be vital to the design of the game.

So... this means... what exactly?...

I think Khuutra hit the nail on the head with that one. (As usual)
