Is that how he's supposed to get her alone to ask, or is that a prom suggestion?

best to ask while she's by herself. Otherwise you'd be putting her on the spot if you ask in front of her friends.

I don't know how to get her alone though! The only way I can think of is either

a) ask my friends ahead of time to not talk to her after school so that we can be alone and I can ask her to prom

b) when we are all talking after school, tell her I have something important to ask her alone. That still puts her on the spot though :(

c) call her at home and ask her to prom. This never seems to work out for dances though...

man, what do i do?

You could always ask her through the phone to hang out with you alone and THEN ask her to the prom.

See, I don't think I want to date her. I REALLY like talking to her, but I don't have a crush on her. Also, its the end of my senior year... how far would I really get? I'd rather just go to the prom.

Do you know where she lives?  If you do you could always go to her house and ask her

Don't say "i have something important to ask you alone"

Just say "hey, can I see you for a minute?"

Say that, hope everyone else keeps walking/leaves us alone, and then asks her is the best choice? That sounds better than calling I guess. Is this what you would do?

Just ask to talk to her alone, and you and her can move away from the group to somewhere else. I'm really not getting why this concept is so foreign to you. Have you never managed to pull someone away from a group before or seen it done?

I can pull people away easy if its crowed. In an empty hallway, people usually wait up for two people who are dawdling becuase they are in an intense convo. I guess I don't know how to pull people away lol

The other people are allowed to hear that you're pulling her away. If they're not complete assholes, they won't follow you.

That sounds good. What should I say,

"hey, can I talk to you for a second?"

damn, I wish I was better at this. I'm getting better though

Ahh, then I guess it is best to just pull here away from the group momentarily and just ask her. Do it before she goes with someone else!

Just say "Hey. Can I talk to you alone for a second?" Naturally she'll then follow you away from the group. When you're at an appropriate distance, just ask her out to the prom.

Thanks a ton Onyxmeth. You are really helping me out here! Do I need to let her know that I want to go as friends, or is it akward to mention and better to say nothing?
