Hmm, what a productive thread. Anyhoo, I'm going to pretend that your post said

"Does anyone want to predict reasons why the E74 error is becoming more noticed in the media"

I have several possible reasons

There are more 360's out there, hence more break

360's are now living longer on average due to the decrease in RROD, so there is a greater potential for them to get E74

There are a lot of old 360s out there now that don't have warranty

Perhaps the E74 problem is not actually becoming more prominant, it just wasn't getting noticed before because it was overshadowed. Have you got any links to data on E74 breakages per month?

I have 2 360s, and have had 1 before. So 3 in total since early 2006. None of them got E74...

1 did have other problems though...DVD drive.

Looks like the days of making consoles that are bulletproof are over...you hear stories of PS3 havig issues as well. My sega genesis/CD/32X still works like king. Since CD format consoles started, I went through 3 PS1s, 4 ps2s and now 3 xbox 360s... Other consoles I owned (Saturn, dreamcast and gamecube) worked great though.
