Forums - Sony - No 1080i support for Heavenly Sword

Grrrrrr... Which means that I'll be playing the game in 480i because of my CRT HDTV. I also have to play this game because I'm slotted to review it on my site.

Some days, I want to kick Sony in the nuts so hard it hurts my brain...

Why isn't there a $4 upscaling chip in this @%$^!$#%^%#$Q%ing $600 game console?

Nope, Sony is shafting developers with a DIY approach to 1080i.

Ridiculous. Now I'll have to roll to a friend's house with my PS3 to test out the game graphically to finish my review.

Why won't your 1080i TV run at 720?

It's a CRT. CRTs can't run any progressive scan resolutions. I've thought about buying a new TV but with the image quality from that CRT when running SDTV compared to SDTV on LCDs or plasmas, I have a hard time justifying the purchase.

My CRT is similar. It does run at 480p & 576p - but not 720.

So if something doesn't run at 1080i... its 'Wii' resolution for me :P

Virtually all newer CRT HDTV's (the few that are left) will accept a 720p connection (if you ever decided to get a new one).  Your current tv should be able to at least use 480p - I've never seen any type of HDTV that can't at least do that.

Good point, forgot about 480p. I believe my TV can do that (or at least receives the signal and upscales to 1080i).

At least that means the game might not be painfully bad to look at and gives me a widescreen option.

Is there a link to confirm this? Because this is just stupid if true.
