Forums - Sales - What will happen to the Wii if Freedom takes off?

Nothing because it won't.

Its 3rd party, the game is being released on Wii anyway, and as i told you in the other thread Nintendo designed a product and SOFTWARE that appeals to millions of people.

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.

I had replied to this in the other thread, but I will expound on it more here.

...Right now the market that this would be going for is has already associated motion controls with Nintendo. It would be a tough sale to try and detour that this generation.

With the assumption that the next generation, all consoles will have in some form or another motion controls...then it would come down to first party games.

I know I say this alot but, THIS is why I don't understand Microsoft's first party positioning. If the Next gen is indeed level, it will be about exclusivity more then anytime right now.

Unless every second dev can be like Epic, instead of From Soft (Ninja Blade has a meta of 59 right now) I don't see them in a good position next gen.

The Interweb is about overreaction, this is what makes it great!

...Imagine how boring the interweb would be if everyone thought logically?

If this controller was bundled with every future 360 and PS3, I could see it happening. Otherwise, no.

Pixel Art can be fun.

Nothing. It's third party and it obviously won't be compatable with 99.9% of games.

Serious question as I don't know and am interested, how many Wii games use motion sensing on the Wii?

The only one I can think of that doesn't is that crappy Fire Emblem game that was pretty much a straight Gamecube port in every sense (although it was never released on GC).

RUN, OKEYDOKEY

Well, other than the word "crappy" he didn't actually say anything incorrect, and that's a pure matter of him being an idiot.. Err, I mean.. that's a pure matter of people having different opinions. Yes, that's what I meant.

That is VGChartz LONGEST review. And it's NOT Cute Kitten DS

Sorry for the wall of text, but I had to flush my brain before I want home for grub...

I predict some journalist will ask Iwata what Nintendo will do about this, and Iwata will laugh (but not in an obnoxious way).

A game I'm developing with some friends:

It is largely a technical exercise but feedback is appreciated.

 I predict the exact opposite.

How about avatars? So 360 steals that, and even attempts to "incorporate" them in games like wii, but did that catch on? How many sales/downloads?

There's your answer, and if thats not enough theres BK as a reminder.

My fear, for the company, is that they prob. decided not to wait till next gen. or not to sign exclusively with either console. That could ultimately flatten confidence in the controllers future before it starts.

But Miis or Avatars are neither consoles selling points, BK was a miserably crappy failure though.
