When did he say he dislikes military people in general?
http://www.vgchartz.com/forum/thread.php?id=46834&page=3

Start reading on page three between Akuma and I, and you will see how he feels about military personnel.
"Do you know many people in the military? A lot of them joined for money, for college, because they want to shoot people (yes, I have heard a few people actually say this...which is just sad), and for lack of anything better to do.

"I am not going to badmouth the troops, as I know a lot of good people who are in the military or have been in the military, but you are overestimating how noble many people's decision to enlist is, or how voluntary that choice is in some cases."

He isn't shy about talking about bad things they do, and bad people in uniform, but you're pretending he thinks all of them are bad people doing bad things which is blatantly untrue. When he told the story about the soldier that accidentally shot up a completely innocent festival, he didn't act like that guy was an evil murderer, he just acted like he was a guy that made a terrible mistake and accidentally did something horrible.

You are letting your opinion of akuma twist your perceptions until you don't even know what you're looking at anymore.
No, that thread is one of the things that shaped my opinion of Akuma. I asked him to tell me one thing he liked about the people in the military, and he couldn't.

You are letting your opinion of Akuma shape how you respond to his actions. His tone and words in that thread are inexcusable.

Wrong.  You never once directly asked him that.  Unless I'm overlooking something, the closest you ever came was "So far, you have said nothing about how proud you are of our military." which is simply an accusation/condemnation -- one of many I might add, they probably roll off akuma like water off a duck's back by now when he hears such from you.  I'm sure you'll agree you've crossed swords often enough that that's likely.

In that thread, all he said about the military was that they are people that are as fallible as anyone else, and that many join for reasons much more prosaic than patriotism or desire to serve, and that the natural and understandable pressures and circumstances of military service result in regrettable and horrible acts that should not be ignored or overlooked.

What you heard him say, I suspect, was that American soldiers are dropouts and murderers and rapists and he hates them.

Source plz on living in France, and if it's true I have a question for Akuma: What the hell is stopping you from leaving the country? If you can't be bothered to learn French, there's always Canada (not Quebec), England, Australia ...

"I'd rather live in France, but unfortunately the naturalization requirements and certification requirements for my profession are extremely difficult. But if I would have learned French early on in life there is a decent chance I would live there now." - Akuma

Well, I guess it's true, he'd rather be French. I guess that's enough to doubt his patriotism, but you have to look elsewhere for America-hatred. I'm sure you can find some

What, are you his PR agent?

No, dammit.  I'm not in the business of defending him, but your accusations bugged me, and now the debate has taken on life of its own.  All I meant by that was that he didn't badmouth the US in that thread that I saw.  He said he likes France better, although to some that implies a dire insult indeed.

What I heard him say was negative things about the men that serve. When I told him I had meet thousands that don't meet that description, he only came back with statistics to prove his position that solders have higher crime rates then non solders.

Not much pisses me off on this site.. but if that conversation had happened in person, he would have gotten his ass kicked.

He came across as a pompous ass rich collage kid that sits back in a safe country, and puts down solders during wartime. Thinking about it again just pisses me off. I am going to bed.

So it pisses you off that your anecdotes don't trump his statistics?

[I realize that as a man who is proud of his country, and proud of the armed forces and the men who serve in them, it must pain you very much to have to stand there (figuratively) and listen to someone tell you that such-and-such percent of them are rapists. But sticking your head in the sand or beating up the messenger doesn't make those crimes disappear, and ignoring the problem is no way to solve it and make the best military on the planet even better.]

No, it pisses me off that his respect for the men and woman in the military is zero.

Give me ANY group of people, and I can find a collection of fact that show they are worse then the average population at something. That does not mean they don't deserve your respect.

Well I hope you didn't reach that conclusion from that thread, 'cause if you did you have no good basis for that opinion.

There is a difference between recognizing flaws in an outstanding group of people, and considering them less then average due to those flaws.

And my feelings are not patriotic. I would want to kick a French mans ass if I can across one who had zero resect for the french solder that chose to risk his life to protect there's.

Freedom is not free. It's payed for by the men and women who volunteer to serve. Give them some credit.

"The military does plenty of great things, but they are people like anyone else.  I think it is very noble to fight for your country, but I also think that fighting is rarely the best solution.  Like I said, I have nothing personal against the military, and I think it is a noble cause, but not everyone in the military is an honest person, just like how not everyone on the street is an honest person."

"People are people.  Whatever they are doing they aren't perfect.  That doesn't mean they are bad people, it just means that I don't give people in any walk of life unconditional praise.  Politicians are dishonest, poor people are dishonest, rich people are dishonest, and people in the military are also dishonest.  All of those people can do great things, but all of them are also human."

"It's not that I don't like the military, although your mind which tends to look at a situation as either a 1 or a 0 might see it that way, I just don't think we should give them a free pass on everything just because they are in the military."

Akuma makes the point SEVERAL TIMES that he is saying they are people just like anyone else, so for you to suggest based on those posts that he believes they are inferior to civilians is very perplexing.
