@frybread
So if the next nintendo console comes with a HDD I guess you won't be getting one - or any console for that matter. Afterall it defeats the purpose of consoles.

@Viper
Simply don't use it.

awesome

frybread makes the most ridiculous statements

if nintendo wanted everyone to wear overalls while they played wii, hed be like 'how could you game without overalls?'

Last year's game of the year turned out to be Silent Hill : Shattered Memories (online GOTY was COD 6).  This year's GOTY leader to me is Heavy Rain.

i say within a year the Wii will get hacked to allow you to replace the dvd drive with a hard drive :D

What sort of technological oddity is this?

I've never known a HDD to allow the insertion of a physical optical medium before.  Can you tell me how this works?

 I simply meant storing the Wii games on the HDD itself, and launching them from the menu. Much like the original Xbox

and to answer the other guy, no, you cannot do this right now. The Wii community would explode if this was possible, much like the Xbox Commnity exploded when you were able to do this

The only thing you can currently do is stream Wii games from your PC (Wii games stored on your PC HDD, launched via Wii)

Which is great and all... but pretty much everyone in the Wii Hacking community is waiting for 2 things:

1) Connect SATA HDD to your Wii and store/launch ISO's from it

2) XBMC

I may be in the minority but I am not that wild about Hard drives. I mean, if Nintendo decides to use them, cool but if not, is not the end of the world. I bet that only geeks and otakus want it *sprints*

Dude.

If you only waited one...more...day.......

Newegg has a Class 4 32 GB SDHC card for $74.00 and free shipping.

Better yet they have Class 6 16 GB SDHC cards for just $27.00 with free shipping.  You could buy 3 of these for just $81.00 - that's 48 GB's.  A very hefty amount of storage for an Standard Definition console.

next gen no system will use an HDD and all will use SSD.
HDD is dying out.

As for price..well once even as just a short as 4 years ago 1GB thumb drives were well over 100$

Right now have a sandisk 4gb card in the wii that was 3$ amazon

HDD is dying out?

The HDD wont die out for years... Especially in a console, consoles need cheap cheap cheap parts, and throwing a SSD in a console would only make the consoles price a lot more expensive

I can MAYBE see the PS4 using SSD, but thats only because it would need the latest in tech, and a high price Playstation can still sell very well as you can see this generation, even if it loses market share

Why did you waste your money on something that didn't have what you wanted on it, Cox, when both of the other consoles do have what you're after?

Because. I love Nintendo's games.  Also, I can't believe you got rid of smash.  What was you thinking.  Anyways, hows street fighter going.  I play on the 360 and I know you have PS3 sooooo that ruins that idea.  Are you any good, because i am absolutely horrible

Two of my friends sold their Smash's as well. It's sad.

By next generation, SSD's will be 1:1 price ratio with magnetic HDD's.
