Forums - Gaming - Is this the worst console generation?

The first generation was the Magnavox Odyssey, the Coleco Telstar, the Atari/Sears Telegames Pong machine, etc. I'm pretty sure it might be just a tad bit worse than this gen.

Nah, this one is pretty great.

would you say that movies that are made now aren't as good as the movies made back in the 70's? I mean, there aren't movies that revolutionize anymore like star wars did back then, so they must not be as good right?

Yes, this is the greatest generation, because it is built on the backs of the previous generations. There has been lots of revolutionary things happen this gernation as well, but it is more on the hardware side. Things like downloadable content means we can keep enjoying new content from our favorite games. Motion controls have made an appearance on the wii, and user generated content is starting to make it's way into the console sector (i.e. halo 3 map editing, littlebigplanet, etc.)

Here's a quick list for people who don't know:

Generation 1:
Magnavox Odyssey, Coleco Telstar, Atari/Sears Telegames Pong machine.

Generation 2:
Atari 2600, Atari 5200, Colecovision, Intellivision, Sega SG-1000

Generation 3:
NES, Mastersystem, Atari 7800

Generation 4:
SNES, Genesis/32x/SEGA CD, TurboGrafx-16, Neo Geo, CD-i(lol)

Generation 5:
N64, PS1, Saturn, Atari Jaguar, 3DO

Generation 6:
GCN, PS2, Xbox, Dreamcast

Generation 7:
Wii, PS3, X360

Now I probably missed a few, but, I think I listed most of the main consoles in each gen.

OT:
I don't think I could judge this gen until the end. =/

Just filling in the blank. How could you possibly forget about the Zeebo? Shame on you. Zeebo is the greatest console of forever!

Nobody's perfect. I aint nobody!!!

Killzone 2. its not a fps. it a FIRST PERSON WAR SIMULATOR!!!! ..The true PLAYSTATION 3 launch date and market dominations is SEP 1st

It`s the worst for old-time gamers, and best for 13-14 year old boys.

Is obvious you see it that way. This generation is changing paradigms and is hard to understand or accept at first.

Every change is for the best.

No I would still call it among the best, and I fall well outside of that demographic.

It's just different. More emphasis on motion control stuff (which doesn't appeal to me at all, but does to alot of others), mini games, party games, sports games. Less story driven RPGs (which does appeal to me). There are some real gems this gen.
