I'm sorry, but everybody knows that PC is dying. This new information is just false.

*edit* beaten, but I still want to say it after seeing other threads against PC gaming.

Actually the fact that there's so many niche games on PC proves even more that is THE gaming platform. PC is where many niche genres and subgenres can flourish.

Ignorant gamers think PC is dieing just because they see little known, niche PC games on stores are idiots. Those people think that unknown games are crap without even knowing what the game is about or how good it is. Then they make the judgement that PC doesn't have big games because they see too many indie games they never heard of, and the attention of big PC titles get diluted - when infact PC has the most BIG titles coming out every year.

Truth, though in my opinoin HD consoles are ruining gaming today.

That is not what I mean. "Niche" here isn't referring to independent development titles or even certain zombie genres like the point and click adventure. I mean things like RTSes, and FPSes, and the big super-budget games.

I mean things like Microsoft Flight Simulator.

That's exactly the types of games that are getting ruined by the consoles...

Consoles are just for mainstream games, if you try to make something niche for consoles you will get your ass kicked and sometimes even raped completely. On PC theres everything, even that mainstream crap(not only that, its even better on PC usually) is on PC. I personally like what Nintendo is doing with Wii. Its not stealing devs and games from PC. Its in its own world making everyone happy with mario & stuff. Good ol ninty. :)

I know. Believe me, even if I disagree with it, I know that that is the sentiment.

RTS games (and Strategy in general) will be fine for us PC gamers. So far only 3 RTS games were focused on consoles, 1 was Halo Wars (which sold below expectations Imo), and Stormrise and Endwar, both complete commercial failures(Stormrise has terrible reviews so far, though I wish it had some success since it's made by the gods of Total War).

And also 2009 is RTS' best year ever, with Starcraft 2, Dawn of War 2, Empire: TW, Sins of a Solar Empire expansion, World in Conflict expansion, Company of Heroes: Tales of Valor, Anno 1404, Demigod, Battleforge, etc...

Shio. People talking about genres on the PC slowly dying does not mean that consoles are taking them. It means that they are becoming less relevant - or less profitable - over time.

and RTS are becoming less relevant/profitable?  o_O I mean, Sins of a Solar Empire alone is a good example...
