it amazes me how europeans would rather buy a PS3 when its hundreds of dollars more expensive, when a 360 cna play the exact same multiplats.

RROD did a lot of hurt to MSFT in Europe...
That and Sony mostly has a reputation for providing quality electronics there.
Besides if you factor in BluRay and WiFi the PS3 is more expensive but you get more value so it turns out to be the same..
Haven't been into one of these "X SALES UP!!!" threads in a while. They still blow.

What about headset, backwards compatibility, component cables, bundled games? These are all things 360 has in the box that PS3 doesnt.
@M-117
Headset: 20€ and you don't get that with the arcade, right? (you spoke of hundreds of dollars more)
HDMI cable: 7€
My Ps3 was bundled with LBP, but there were also other bundles available.
And yes, it's a pity about PS2 backwards compatibility. That's why I kept my PS2, that nowadays you can buy new for 79€ if you need it.
Plus it came with an 80GB HD and Wifi and I don't have to pay to play online.
Depending on what you need and like, it has better value.
If you don't care about BluRay and PS3 exclusives and easily upgreadable HD, and you don't care about paying for Live then the 360 is probably better for you.

Does the 360 comes with component cables or HDMI cables ?
Because HDMI is really what you want to use with a PS3 anyway.

RROD did a lot of brand damage here, use of WiFi is I believe more common for connecting therefore this gets factored in as an additional cost for 360, Playstation brand is better known, many gamers in Europe for shooters still prefer PC, therefore see PS3 as having better library - i.e. less shooter centric, more titles like R&C with stuff like God of War, Gran Turismo, Jak, etc. still to come.
Also BR I believe is stating to become attractive, and that is a big difference in cost if you plan to buy a 360, WiFi adaptor for 360 plus a seperate Blu-Ray player.
Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

Actually the Wii is already seeing huge tapering demand in its home market where it is selling 50% less in 2009 than in 2008 so far and 2008 already sold less than 2007.

Yeah and an increasing WW sales, duh, don't be a fool, WW sales are more important than sale in one market
Predictions:Sales of Wii Fit will surpass the combined sales of the Grand Theft Auto franchiseLifetime sales of Wii will surpass the combined sales of the entire Playstation family of consoles by 12/31/2015 Wii hardware sales will surpass the total hardware sales of the PS2 by 12/31/2010 Wii will have 50% marketshare or more by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!! It was a little over 48% only)Wii will surpass 45 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!! Nintendo Financials showed it fell slightly short of 45 million shipped by end of 2008)Wii will surpass 80 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2009 (I was wrong!! Wii didn't even get to 70 Million)
If the reason the 360 is doing well in Others, then that's no going to change, since M$ has clearly state they intend to say "price competitive" to PS3...ie...price cut to match it...heck a $179 arcade might actually start to make dents into the Wii as well.
