@BladeOfGod: Yot didn't define whether the consoles should be home or handheld ones.

Anyway, could you tell where are you basing your claim about handhelds being easier to sell than home consoles? PS3 having sold less than half of PSP numbers?

''Console'' means you need controller and TV to play it. ''Handheld'' means you can play it in your hands without TV.

And i followed sales in Japan lately, so i think handhelds are selling better than consoles, at least this generation.

A handheld is still a console. It merely put the entire package into one singular unit. The full name for handhelds is supposed to be handheld game console and the consoles we refer to as such are refered to as video game consoles or home consoles.

The keyword is ''handheld''.

And i think it was obvius i meant home consoles like SNES and NES not Gameboy or DS.

Actually I think the keyword is "game" since the main purpose is to play games on it.

@BladeOfGod: And four different PS3 models are closing 20 million at the moment. Your point was?

If PS3's 80GB model had GPU upgrade i wouldnt count it. But All 4 Ps3 models are same.Just diffrend BC, but you can mod it if you know how. And there are only 2 models today. I dont think 20GB model that much. It was disconected ver fast.

GameBoy Colour had HUGE upgade. It HAD COLOURS. PSP, PSP-2000, PSP-3000 are not so diffrent . Game Boy colour is totaly diffrent and much more better than original GameBoy. PSP-2000, PSP-3000 are not.

And i remember playing Pokemon Ruby Version on my GBA. The first and only RPG i loved. ( thinking of instaling GBA emulator on my PSP )

GBA SP was a huge up-grade over over the GBA. Backlight, clamshell protection, and internal battery. PSX was a huge upgrade over the PS2 what with the internal hard drive and DVR capabilities. They are re-deisgns of the same machine. It counts. Find another way to move the goal posts.

Sorry dude. 4 consoles only,GameBoy and GameBoy Colour sold TOGETHER 118 million.

And your numbers include the PSP, PSP-2000, PSP-3000, PS2, PS2 Slim, PSX, PS1, PS1 redesign, etc. Nintendo has it all classified as the same machine. They are the autorities on the subject. What with them owning it an all. I still remember playing Pokemon Gold (Gameboy color title) on my Gameboy. Good times.

For the bolded, i do agree. PSP-2000 and PSP-3000 aren't huge improvements, and do too prefer GB over PSP, but i still think calling PSP not being any improvement over GB is going a little too far.

@BladeOfGod: Well, the 80/60GB model had one CPU dropped from the original 60/20GB and the 40GB model had one GPU dropped from the 80/60GB model. And aren't the processors at 65nm at the moment, instead of the original 90.

N64 + GameCube+ DS+Wii= around 250 million units sold

PS1+PS2+PSP+PS3= around 321 million sold.

So, Nintendo got its ass kicked since PlayStation was launched

I noticed that you missed (or conveniently left out) the GBA, which sold about 80M, which makes your Nintendo number up to 330 million.

LOL, i am counting only the consoles PlayStation was competing with.I didnt counted PSX and PocketStation because they were only realised in Japan. PS2 never competed with GBA, Sony didnt have handheld back then. I was counting 4 consoles vs. 4 consoles and PlayStation obviusoly win. Nobody plays SNES and NES anymore, , but i think there are still people out there who are playing N64 and PS1. PS1 was more popular than N64, PS2 was MUCH MORE popular than GameCube and Wii is more popular than PS3 for now.

I dont get it why people are comparing company and brand. Nintendo is not a brand, Nintendo is a video game company.

PlayStation have PS1, Ps2, PSP and PS3. That's only 4 machines and its still THE MOST POPULAR BRAND out there

Nintendo have NES, SNES, Gameboy, Gameboy colour, N64, GBA, GameCube and wii. That's 8 machines. Twice as much as PlayStation. That's why is not fair to compare company like Nintendo and brand like Playstation. Its same like comparing Microsoft and Ipod.

The most pupular brand: PlayStation

The most popular video game company: Nintendo

Next time you might want to clarify your point in the beginning, instead of moving goal posts. Just a suggestion.

It's been stated before, but I'll state again: Why is the virtual console, chock full of NES/SNES games and barely any N64 games, so popular?

Why is not fair to compare these? Nintendo has been in gaming longer than Sony, thus they will release more consoles. Heck, Sony goes as far as to compare the "Playstation Family" outselling the "Xbox Family" and the Wii and the DS (the latter 2 separately of course......otherwise their spin wouldn't have made sense). Sony has no problem combining their family........I have no problem combining the Nintendo Family. Comparing Microsoft and Ipod is not fair, you are correct. However, it is quite fair to compare the Zune and the 100 different Ipod editions.........just like it's fair to compare Playstation and Nintendo.

Sony never compared PlayStation with Xbox. They are just comparing ONE of their console with theri competitor in the generation. PS1 sold twice as much as entire Xbox family did that's why is dumb to compare it. Nintendo is a COMPANY, PlayStation is a brand. PlayStation had 4 consoles on the market. Nintendo had 8. ENOUGH SAID.

"Nintendo is a COMPANY, PlayStation is a brand"

see here is your problem---you are trying to use false info as the base for your argument

nintendo is a brand, go on say it...BRAND

once you understand that simple concept perhaps your arguments might make more sense and you can stop putting up bad posts

ALSO

no one from your side has been able to disprove this one yet

"i repeat myself---nin trying sailing the uncharted blue ocean was and still is the biggest risk of the big three"

perhaps you could try that since you will never be able to win the "brand" point

Re-designs means bringing the same console with different look.Like the PS2 slim. Upgrade means giving the console more and better features.
