Forums - Sony - PS3 in 720P has video cut out on me. Any help?

Currently, I am looking at this situation.  When I try to run my PS3 in 720P mode, it ends up with the video cutting out.  I mean on my Insignia TV/Monitor (small 15 1/2" monitor) that should run 720P, it will give ma no signal.  For example, as I am loading Flower, the screen goes black and it says "No Signal".  I am running through component cables.  I have no problem with the XBox 360.  Anyone have any ideas?  Killzone 2 also cut out on me.

Some background:

1. I lent the PS3 out to someone who decided to run the PS3 through HDMI.  I got it back at 1080P and had to do a system reset.

2. 480P doesn't give me this problem.

3. The video kicks out intermittantly and then returns, usually during load screens.

4. The PS3 ran fine on a 16x10 ratio monitor in 1080i.

I am up for anyone who has answers here to help.

i think your tv doesn't support 720P(many older HDtvs don't support 720 P)

what's your tv?

I'm having the same problem with RE5 on the 360--my 1080p TV just goes black for a few seconds and says 'no signal' when I play the game on anything higher than 480p.

Could I trouble you for some maple syrup to go with the plate of roffles you just served up?

The 360 works fine on it.  It is an Insignia brand.  It was the only one at Best Buy that was small enough to fit and have a 16x9 ratio which I needed.  Again, it works, but cuts out sometime.

Latest status report. I picked up an HMDI cable and it seems to have fixed the problem. I am running output through that, and the problem seems solved. If it changes, I will post.

The HDMI cable seemed to work. Now, if I can just figure out how to get Blu-Ray movies to work, I will be all set.

A good choice.

Pluss hdmi looks better the comp anyway

I would say yes.  I got impressed.  I held back fully commenting on that, because I was stuck at 480P for a few days.  I finished Killzone 2 on that.  I will say it SOUNDS better also.

Whatever resolution doesn't work, leave it on, turn your TV off, then turn the TV back on, and it should work. At least that's the case with my TV. It does that every once in a while. Trust me.
