My friend was murdered Sunday night. I've been trying to get it out of my mind, but I can't. If anyone sees this person, who murdered my friend and left her three wonderful children motherless please call the authorities immediately. Diners and employees at a Denny's on International Drive watched in horror Sunday night as a man entered the restaurant and stabbed a waitress to death in front of nearly a dozen witnesses.
At least one person chased the suspect from the restaurant after he repeatedly stabbed his estranged wife, Orange County sheriff's Capt. Steve Lang said. But the attacker escaped after jumping over a fence.
Deputies were conducting a ground and air search early this morning for 47-year-old Alejandro Caso in the area near Sand Lake Road.
She was working about 9 p.m. when the assailant came at her with a pocketknife and stabbed her several times in the neck and chest area, Lang said.
"He intentionally picked her, viciously attacked her with a knife, and she has now passed away," Lang said.
Investigators think the victim recently filed a restraining order against Caso. The victim has two teenage children and one grandchild.
Witnesses said her attacker dropped his knife and lost his shoes while fleeing from one customer.
Caso is described as between 5 feet 6 inches and 5 feet 8 inches with black hair, a mustache and glasses. He was last seen wearing a dark-green shirt and dark-colored shorts.
He might be driving a 1991 white Chevrolet station wagon, Lang said.
Employees were "shocked" and "traumatized," Lang said. They were not made available for comment late Sunday.
