Kinect Sports and Your Shape Fitness Evolved (Don't laugh too hard) are in partial tournament status.

And for those rolling your eyes...  Achievements are not gimmies in the Kinect games...  We have had a lot of easier games to rack up GS in...  My legs have been sore ever since Kinect entered my house this week.

The laughable thing about Kinect is not the achievements, its that half you guys ran out and bought it.

I'm sorry, maybe I missed the joke that I'm supposed to laugh at. *scratches head*

@themanwithnoname, laughable to me at least, I didn't say it was or needed to be funny to anyone else.

I don't mean to be down on the Kinect, or anyone who bought it so I apologize.

I just don't think it bodes well for people like me who don't want "motion gaming" when half the people in the league ran out and bought it on week one.  I always thought people who owned and played a 360 did so because they wanted traditional gaming, because otherwise why not just play Wii.  If even just half of 360 owners all support Kinect them Microsoft will have no problem leaving the traditionalist behind.  On top of that their big tag line is, "controller free gaming."  Its just.... I like controllers thank you.

Now I forsee a future where people like us are left in the past and end up having to play antique game systems just to get our fix.  I don't like the thought.  And this league, of all places, a place full of traditionalists and core gamers, has fully adopted the Kinect and yes its kind of disturbing.

Microsoft already nearly completely ignored us at last years E3 in favor of pushing this trend.  This can't end well...

I think all of us still like traditional games, but many of us have significant others, spouses, and kids that wonder why we game.  If we can share gaming with them through games they would like I think that is great.

Also, I am a person who works in the technology industry for a living and am very impressed with Kinect as a technology.  It makes previous realtime motion tracking devices look primitive, and as much as I hate to admit it, the games from launch are just plain fun for everyone.  But, I think later on Kinect will have many benefits in business as well.

Kinect won't replace my Call of Duty, Mass Effect, Halo, Fable, Gears of War, etc. any time in the near future.  But, it will give me more time with my family doing the hobby I love.  To me, that is gold.

As for Microsoft ignoring us this past E3.  That is just one presentation.

Look at what they actually have delivered this holiday compared to the competition.  I'm not saying this was the best core gamer year ever, but Microsoft is stacking up equally or surpassing the competition for exclusive core gamer content this holiday season.

Last year I felt 360 was weaker with core gamer exclusive content for the holidays then they are this year.  ODST was the big (and only) exclusive thing last year.

We had Forza 3 last year.

I do think this year has been the best "core" year though, especially if you look at XBLA, which continues to amaze me as to how big it's gotten. I'm loving Super Meat Boy and can't wait for Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet.

Kind of forgot about Forza...  I was so mad that there was nothing really to compete with Uncharted 2...

XBLA has been great this year...  Toy Soldiers, Limbo, Super Meat Boy, Blacklight, Castlevania HoD, Comic Jumper, Duke Nuk'em Manhattan, Death Spank, DR2 Case Zero, Scott Pilgrim vs. World, Serious Sams HD etc.

Well, first off, yes the tech is amazing.  I won't deny that.  But using this amazing tech to clone a bunch of Wii games is such a waste.  I know we don't know what will happen in the future so I should shut up and stop assuming the worst.

Also I understand people have kids and spouses and such, that was my first thought actually when I saw how many had bought it.  They must have kids...

I mean, I understand how you want to be able to "share" gaming with people who otherwise didn't do it.  But since when do we try to alter things people already like in terms of winning over new fans?  Since the Wii started, since this trend started.  I mean, I think of it this way, I like college football... I used to hate football of any kind.  But I found an appreciation of the sport without them having to alter it or change to rules to appeal to me.  If they had altered the game in order to appeal to me and other people who didn't like it, it wouldn't really be fair to the previous fans.  Maybe some things don't have to be appreciated by everyone.  Maybe some things can remain aimed at the people who already enjoy them.  If your wife loved Soap Operas would you want them to add guns and explosions and boobs just so you could enjoy them?  No.  Would your wife want them to add those things so they appeal to you? Probably not.

Just some thoughts... I know Microsoft hasn't completely abandoned traditional gaming.  Also I know they keep saying the Kinect will be able to add to such hybrid experiences.  But I don't see that, I see dance games, sports compilations and pet sims.  I might change my tune when they've established over the course of the next couple of years that people like me won't be left behind.
