 I did the same type of things. I used to play violent games like tenchu and call my mom and said: "Look mom I can chop his head off" Lol Im glad she understood it ws just a game and let me play what I wanted, I turned out fine, but it must suck for a kid to have his parents forbiding him to play good games.

I mean, I have friends who couldnt watch dragon ball because it was too violent.

Hell, my parents are traditionalist Catholics, and even they didn't mind the violence. They just understood that it was indeed just a game, and also that I was smart enough to not believe that's how real life is.

I used to play mortak komabt 1 on PC and mortal kombat 2 and resident evil 2 all the time when i was a kid.

I dont even thnk it affects children at all, My cousins who are now 12 and 6 have watched all of mine and my brother M rated games and no one has been disturbing for them, they just see it as a stupid cartoon or unreal, they dont see evil or anything like that. I think if the kid is smart he wont have trouble but if he is stupid you should probably have to keep him locked cus he will do crazy stuff with or without videogames.

As long as it doesnt have porn or real raping or something like that its ok.

I was exactly like you(not in the jrpg part) but i liked the kiddy/cartoony games more myself.i was allowed to play what ever i liked but I liked abe's oddesy or other cartoony games like crash much more.

but it changed.I took a break from gaming for 3 years and then when i came back i just wanted to play action games mostly rated M.(hack ans slash,FPS[hated FPS when i was younger],etc,...)

One day you're going to branch out into different genres and your head is going to blow up.
