I would say no, it won't run, but you can always try the benchmark tool to be sure, it's only 250MB and you'll know for sure

Well whatever. I picked up this game for the 360 as most people said the HDD installs fixed the issues of frame rate and what not, though I can't confirm that as I haven't played the game yet.

BTW got the 360 version on clearance at Target for $15. This is supposed to be the last week, or next week of it at that price. I doubt it will go lower as Target sends them off once they reach a certain price point and don't sell.

Reason simply because as Darc Requeim and mrstickball suggested, if you install The Last Remnant to the 360's HDD then you will get a better gameplay experience. Especially if they can look past the faults and find a awesome JRPG. As you know they are JRPG fans, duh?

But JRPG fans like Japanese voice acting.
