Forums - Gaming - What "hardcore" gaming don't involve shooting and gore?

Do you mean 'hardcore' or hardcore. Just about all console 'hardcore' games are nothing but shooting and core. And then theres hardcore on PC. For the latter, theres civilization, just about any turn based strategy game, thief serie etc.

Hardcore game just means good game.

Its something we use to say the wii has no good games without getting banned.

'Hardcore' shouldnt even exist. The word and idea i mean. Games are entertainment, as long as its fun, mission accomplished right? Be that a FPS, party game, or MMO.

To me a hardcore game is a game that has both an addictive and competitive nature to it. So to me, everything from Mario Kart Wii, to Halo 3, to World of Warcraft are hardcore games and they all have differing levels of violence.

Here's your "hardcore games"!

...and now you know.

dj max series and wii music is uterly hardcore. i mean, come on when you play more then 6000 songs in dj max games(Clazziquai Edition and first game from the series) you ARE a hardcore gamer. same goes to:
- 180+ hours in Disgaea portable,
- 70+ hours in Naruto Ultimate Ninja Heroes 2,
- at least 30 hours in Ikkitousen psp,
- 56 hours in Burnout Dominator,
- 315 hours in SSBB,
- 120 hours in Mario Kart,
- 30 hours in Endless Ocean,
....
and almost 40 hours in Dewy's Adventure:/ ok this game is kinda "gay" so STFU
and i DON'T even play online

Hardcore usualy means that someone who constantly plays games to get that score or skill for example, a game like tetris is NOT hardcore, not because its a puzzle game or its a casual game its merely because theres always going to be someone out there with a crazy ass score that no non-hardcore or casual can ever do unless they go the hardcore way. another game like super stardust HD has a list of thousands and thousands of peoples high scores. i seen some with a score of around 1 billion (now THATS hardcore!)

I see the term "hardcore" a lot in forums... and primarily it is used by "wanna-be-a-real-man-teens" who think adult games are cool and the rest are childlish...

In any case, as other posters have already said, for me there aren't hardcore games, but harcore gamers. A game may be long, short, easy or hard, but it's the player the one who invests his time in passing or dominating the game.

For example, between 2 friends and me we have 3 copies of "Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock", my other two friends passed easy and normal modes and left the game. I still play, and I've been playing in expert mode only for two months already. I guess I've played more than 100 -120 hours, and I think I'll be playing at least for two months more (for an additional 60 hours) before I consider to stop playing (which I doubt it, as I really enjoy the game).

Thus, I consider me a hardcore gamer... not because of the games, but because I want to get all the juice I can for the games I play, and I like to it in hard/expert modes and continuously break my records. It doesn't imply to play many hours a day (I don't have the time to do this)... just a lot of hours a game. Anyway, I don't consider me "superior" to "casual" gamers, as many "wanna-be-a-real-man-teens" do... It's just I have little money left to spend in games (3 - 4 a year), and I enjoy playing them, can't do any more...
