"I'm shocked that both Factor 5 and Sony looked at what they had here and decided to charge people for it. It's not a failed experiment, it's an embarrassment. Either Factor 5 doesn't know how to code a game or the hardware wasn't up to snuff, because that frame rate kills the entire experience before you even have a chance to be disgusted at the controls. The sad thing is that this complete booger of a game may keep other companies from trying a motion-based approach to their controls, and I'm sure someone could do it well in the future.

This game is like ExciteTruck all over again, some get it, some don't.

miasma: No, there are many visible issues with frame rate, and rediculous random scenes of slowdown that interupt the game. It's not a get it or not get it scenario, it's a pick and chose a flaw scenario. Whether or not you could control Excite truck didn't mysteriously change the trees into sprites or have the frame rate drop.

I just felt of the dozens of flaws, none were 1 single killer, but all were bad.

Please don't compare LAIR and Excitetruck. Excitetruck is a GOOD game - it might just not be to everyones tastes.

Yeah I have to say that anyone that has bought the game is going to say it's serviceable. I have bought some horrible games that I have eventually grown to like but should love be such hard work? A review from a magazine is supposed to give you a kind of heads up, to tell you if it's worth your hard earned dollars. If you still buy it, even when it is getting crappy reviews, then it's your own fault. Doom 3 got less than stellar reviews, but I bought it anyway. Wasted my money. As far as the 8.5 review goes.............I think you had better get a second opinion. I don't buy games based on a Nintendo Power Review. I wouldn't expect any intelligent person to buy into reviews from a site called, Playstation UNIVERSE.

The controls, while I didn't think they were terrible, are FAR FAR FAR from great.

And after playing the game more, Lordy, is the game BUGGY. Flying through other creatures, terrible collision system, screen tearing, bad framerate, broken animations, terrible camera system, "floating" dragons/soldiers that are supposed to be on the ground, the list goes on and on and on...

The funny thing is that if you turn the game down to 480i, half those problems go away. I'd like to just throw a big "WTF have you been working on the for the past two years, Factor 5" out there to show my disappointment with this title.

It can best be summed up by what I said to a friend about two hours into the game:

"This is a pretty cool beta. I really wish it hadn't cost $60."

I would like to add that as a mature gamers who has logged time with thousands of games and beaten hundreds of them, that review is downright insulting to my intelligence. Lair is not a good game, end of story. Anyone who tells you otherwise is a PS fanboy, an idiot, or hasn't played a game in his or her life.

Then again, when a review opens with a line like this, I shouldn't expect much:

"Dragon’s seem scary."

I never knew that one could possess the word "seem".
