$99 Arcade? I seriously cannot see that happening.

The funny things is that at $99, it would still be outsold 2:1 by the $250 Wii.

Hey, if they dropped the price of the Arcade to $99, I'd buy one. That's less than the cost of two new PS3 games!

They should sell 360s like they sell cell phones.

 I will take that bet on. You seriously believe there will be no change at all if the X360 is 40% the value of Wii instead of being 80% value of Wii?

X360 would be in front of Wii in NA if it was selling for $99. But X360 life would be shortened drastically.

Many people think the 360 is a gaming Console like an old Xbox or PS2..

Allot more can be done with these new systems to make money on, unlike the old systems were just Games made the profit.

MS see's the 360 as a Media Sales Hub, like Apple TV, On Demand, etc.

The figure give them the unit for cheap, sell the Media at a premium (but competitive)

I don't see the $99.00 price for a core system that unbelievable, with what MS can make off it Media Purchase Wise.

these are dirty tactics by MS. i can understand them trying to win but this is just getting dirty, they're trying to eliminate SONY, the entire company and i feel sorry for them. SONY please don't drop the price, let MS sell consoles at a loss. btw won't a $99 dollar arcade be selling at a loss?

I agree that the 360 as a hub has many ways to profit. While I only have purchased 5-6 360 games, I have purchased game DLC for half those games (LOTS in the case of Rockband/Rockband 2) movies, shows, and now netflix.

However, most of these are completely irrelevant when it comes to the arcade. I could see a big drop in the systems with HDs and MS really pushing these additional services... but with a $99 arcade, they take a loss and aren't even getting money from various sold content. (I could see a smaller price drop and a 20g being added to the arcade though... or a small drop in the arcade, a larger drop in the other models and increased HDD sizes in those)

Didn't Microsoft promise to counter any price drop the PS3 had?
