I saw that. Even the motion controls don't make good use of the motion controls.

I prefer that the motion is used to only detect the punch and not the type of punch. I've played wii boxing extensively, and it is just too messy for Punch-Out as it is not really a boxing game per se, it is more a pattern determination game.

I think it just bothers me that we're not getting a better game thanks to motion controls. We're getting the exact same kind game we could have gotten on the Gamecube. The way they're using the Wii's unique controls doesn't sound like it'll be adding anything truly new to the experience.
Well motion IS being used, so that is new to the experience; but I get what you mean. It would be nice if they add some kind of trainning mode or make part of story mode where motion is used more extensively, and maybe add balance board support for such trainning.

I just thought of something, maybe the article mentions the trainer as a playable character because there is going to be some king of trainning you have to do with him....

Well it won't be shorter than the other punch outs if there are more fighters.... but try the other ones to get an idea of how many hours the game is. |
It takes longer to master but I don't think it's worth the $50 anyway. I've never bought a punch out game, renting them was enough back in the NES and SNES days. They're pretty good, but FIFTY bucks? that's a lot of money.

Well i think its a good choice, they want to create a game that will be as awesome as the original, and they do not want to mess up with over complicating controls. They also do not want to alienate fans of the original.
My ideal punch out would be a game with 2 story modes one more like Wii boxing, kinda simulator and other true to the original, like two separate games.
I know what you mean. I'm happy this game will feature a normal control method because I think it will likely be better than what it would have had it used motion controls more extensively.
Still... it's like the greatest part of playing a Wii over another console (the motion controls) keeps taking a backseat in Nintendo's classic franchises (Zelda, Mario, Brawl, Kart, and now Punch Out).
