Reuters reports news that the company won't be handing out any seniority-based raises in the foreseeable future. According to the article, Sony hasn't given automated annual raises in the past, opting for a system based on title and performance. It looks like that meritocracy's on hold. "This time we decided to keep the workers' salaries unchanged," Sony spokeswoman Mami Imada told Reuters, ahead of the company's upcoming financial schedule for the next fiscal year.

It seems that Sony isn't the only company considering this measure.
