hey dont beat the guy up... its his job to spin.

You do realize how hypocritical and biased you are. Sure.....Aaron Grenburg talks more fanboy trash and 'Its just his job' but Sony say that their console will be an entertainment centrepiece for 10 years and they are 'ridiculosly arrogant'

of course I am sometimes biased.... arent you?

But the 10 year entertainment hub thing is far more ridiculous than the facts grenburg decided to spin.

I try not to be biased, but your right...Im sure I am sometimes. But I don't think you can criticise Sony for saying something that has the potential to be true whenever at the same time Microsoft act so Childish and Fanboyish.

Just something I picked up on, just seems to be another one of those 'hate Sony' days, thats all

@CGI

arent you ever sometimes biased...? I must say...how lovely it is to be surrounded by all these well meaning and fair minded individuals... such saints..... brings a tear to the eye.

Well thank you, anyway, if -Sony was winning we would hear similar or worse response than M$, so it's not like any of them is worth defending to be honest.

I'd love nothing more than to beat that obese lunatic idiot to near death.

What a tool

You should be beaten, burned to ashes then someone should throw your ashes from a plane

this is why i admire sony and ninty. sony rarely ever attacks the other two( even though it occasionally blows it's own trumpet) whilst ninty is pwning the others but never squeaks.

To be fair although Grenburg put it across in a rather arrogant tone, what he says is true in the main - its just facts and numbers. The Sony thing is just pure hype, arrogance and based on a heap of wishful thinking in my opinion.

Sony - 2 Consoles released (Both *PS2 on the verge* being supported for 10 years). Sales tracking similar to 360 in similar timeframes at a higher price?   Why is it wishful thinking?  Hell,  worst case scenario for Sony (Assuming Blu-Ray keeps increasing market share) the PS3 can still be sold as a quality Blu-Ray player in the same vein as all of Sony's other players.  If Microsoft has an advantage with having tons of money etc,  Sony has an advantage in multi-media devices.  The PS3 won't go anywhere anytime soon.

@rpruett I have no prpoblem with 10 years... i have a problem with the "centrepiece of your entertainment" quote. Its laughable.

Well,  I don't think it's THAT far-fetched of an idea. Think about it,  are you going to have an ugly boxy DVD player in the center of your entertainment stand?  =P   I think that the PS3 is more future proof (Blu-Ray basically alone) than either of it's competitors.

Like you said though,  it's their job to hype their product up and put it into a positive light.  Sony wants to tell everyone that they aren't going to abandon them.  (That has been their stance from day one).  It's not really arrogance, It's confidence in their brand and their product.   They aren't going to come out and say "Well you guys aren't going to buy our product and we will prematurely end support for it." .

The outrage over Sony comments and the passive attitude towards the Microsoft stance is quite hypocritical.

The "PS3 is selling more with aligned launches" argument, while still relevant, is losing validity with each passing month. If you console launches late, you are expected to eventually compete with the competition in the current time frame, not the past. You cannot always use the "we launched a year late" excuse for the entire generation. The Wii was able to do it. Sony needs to start doing it as well.

Sony is doing fine, all things considered. Hardware sales are better that most people expected, software sales are great, and their lineup for the upcoming year looks better than the 360. Start competing in the present, not the past.

Ok I hear what you say, then PS2 wins easily by your standards for the exact same reasons. 360 has to compete with it today, not yesterday you understand. But the installed gap is huge, you see. Unfortnately, there are 4 times more PS2 in the world than 360. And I won't talk about the Wii because I'm nice today.

Ah ah ah another PS3 is doomed article...

- PS3 sold more than 360 is you take the same period from launch, worldwide. It sold more in the first year, then sold more in the second year.

- Software sales recently were better on PS3 than on 360 : RE5 sold 55/45 PS3, and it's true for SF4 too, so it looks like PS3 is doing well actually. Don't forget that there were a lot of replacement consoles among the 360 sold, so the installed base gap is probably overrated, as the multiplat software sales show.

- If PS3 sells right now the same worldwide as the 360 while costing twice as much (it sells a bit less actually, but still), I don't see how it can be 'doomed'

Reality is both consoles are doing well (but are still far from Nintendo numbers) and it will continue. 360 will do ok because of the price, and PS3 will do ok because of its exclusives.

Head-to head battle since the PS3 and X360 were competing against each the X360 has beaten the Ps3 by around 2.45 million consoles in 2.5 years. X360 started with a lead of around 5.7 million when PS3 was launched.

The X360 gap over PS3 is widening every week and it is now 8.15 million and increasing over PS3. PS3 looks unlikely to outsell the X360 in total world wide console sales. PS3 has all of its third party exclusive titles except for MGS 4 which miraculously Sony held onto it.

PS3 sales have decreased year on year in comparison of the last four months ahev been down on the four months a year ago.  Sony is not in a financial position to afford a big price cut  say $100 on PS3 without bleeding financially. A small PS3 price cut of up to $50 which could be offset by increased software sales. It  would not change things dramatically in terms of sales but it would not damage the future of PS3.

PS3 has to rely on a handful of first party PS3 titles to sell the system for the future. X360 has first party titles of its own that are impressive and are as good in comparison to PS3 first party titles. Multi-platform titles are slightly better on X360.

Exclusives like Ninja Gaiden 2 and Bioshock you mean ? It goes both ways, except MS has only a handful of 1st party studios, while Sony has tons of studios whose exclusives you can't buy, so it's not very hard to see where the exclusives will be now (hint : on the same console as 2008). Sony doesn't care about 3rd parties since they have tons of 1st party exclusives. Basically soon PS3 library = PS3 exclusives + 360 library, so the only looser seems to be the 360-only onwer. Sales : yeah you can spin them, but I still wait for the answer to my question : - If the PS3 is doooooomed, why does it sell more multiplat softwares like RE5 and SF4 worldwide ?? Or is the 360 more doooomed, please explain me I'dl like to know because with this huuuuuge installed fantasy gap, it's really strange. Any PS3 price cut would put the 360 in trouble now, since it was already outsold before MS cut the price, but at that time (before september), at least MS had some AAA exclusives, and they haven't got any now... Please answer the question about RE5 and SF4 sales please, I'd like to know how you can spin that it would be cool.
