Forums - Sony - HOME = Failure? (hmmm... maybe)

maybe its because im too old ..i dunno but what the hell is the term "hating" or "bashing" suppose to mean to you?

i believe its something like.. unjustified criticism is that it? although it seems like the respone to every sort of cirticism like that persons opinion has no worth because he or she is obviously a fanboy and thus has no opinion worth hearing

so where exactly do you draw the line between criticism and "hating" because i believe most of you dont know the diference either but you throw it around so oftem to me it seems like ..its just a slur to insult anyone who disagress with you..to blow it off as a fanboys opinion..

as for the statement that home is making sony money... is that all it was supposed to be ..i think not .

Home is awesome, and you people have no idea how useful it is to have a meeting with someone or a convention in it. Wait for E3 where press conferences will be apart of it.

Yes.. sony promised a lot in 2007 for the use of ads.. the whole idea of home was for sales and advertising to make money.. I worked back then for an Ad company.. we looked into it and it looked promising... but after the meh sales of the PS3 and stripped down version of HOME (they promised a lot back then compared what it is now) it's a failure...

You seriously think corporations are going to use HOME for their Conferences?

Being free or a beta is no excuse to how boring it is... There's loads of better free stuff all over the internet. I don't see how it is fun in any way. What a waste. -__-'

*yawn* Home-hating is in fashion again - I wonder why twesterm didn't just post his new views (which coincidently are the same as his old views) in here and instead needed to make another thread which basically says the same as his last one and this one.

If you like hating on Home so much guys, then plz go on, I'll just watch and be amused by how emotional some ppl get over free software they aren't forced to use.

It's not that. Twesterm is saying that from a financial and developmental standpoint for creating Home, it seems to be a complete waste. I don't own a PS3 so I wouldn't know, but after reading articles and hear how people complain that Sony has wasted resources to create something bland. Sony did have great ideas for the concept, it's just that a lot of it was put into place and doesn't fascinate us gamers.

I DO think it's a total waste to go to the Arcade in Home and to see that all the machines are in use. It DOES NOT have to be that way. On my online game of FFXI, we can go to the grand capital city called Jeuno and access the Auction Houses (AH) by NPCs. More than one player can highlight and initiate the AH window from the NPC. If Sony could do something like that in Home, it would be more fair, otherwise people would be wasting time just waiting for a slot in the Arcade to play against someone. And for Sony to go so far as to make everything HIGHLY detailed and textured etc. in areas that cause massive loading bouts, it's ridiculous. If it's too realistic people are going to be very turned off, and that's exactly what's happening in home.

For anyone who says there is point of complaining about Home since it's free, consider the following scenario.

You cell phone company offers you free phone and first 3 months free for it service. However, during that time period, half of the time your phone or the service doesn't work. Would you complain to the phone company or you would just let it go because you got both the phone and service for free?

MikeB predicts that the PS3 will sell about 140 million units by the end of 2016 and triple the amount of 360s in the long run.

@ terislb )

hating, bashing as I personally define it -

1) saying sth. "sucks" without giving a reason or without using any indication of subjectivity ("In my opinion", "I think",...)

2) arguing sth. is in some way "bad" or "useless" with a lot of arguments (often without the use of any indication of subjectivity either), half of which are very subjective, half-trues or straight out wrong

this kind of hating/bashing usually is a constant flow of nagging with someone creating several threads (that basically say the same all the time) in which he/she tries to push his/her view on others and/or visiting nearly all related threads and posting the same (with the same or slightly different wording) all the time, showing these people are following an agenda here

@ saicho )

*sigh* wrong comparison, home neither is a main service of the PS3, nor does it have any "it isn't working" issues (bar from the obligatory start problems it had), which are very different to a "this service is useless to me" issue

if I got a cellphone for free and realise "hey, I don't need this" I wouldn't complain, would you?

so thats one half.. how do you call people who accuse anything that moves of being a hater ? because it seems we have a lot more of those.. they put you into that corner just because you disagree.this makes vgchartz really uncomfortable anyone who is neither of those two categories

i dont get the behaviour of neither of them.. i mean.. we are customers not knights of the holy order of sony.. so why fight with anyone who disagrees..anyone who says.." game xy wont be that good ,game xy isnt all i expected"

yes you can be ethusiastic about something.. but were talking about a piece of eletronics so why insult others and alienate yourself over something like this.. you know what.. i dont think those of you who do this know why they do it either

so the next time you see a thread like "gears of war vs killzone vs mgs" or any "why the ps3 fails" or just any thread, think about .wether or not there is a point to reply to it at all.. or wether or not acting like someone just called your sister a whore .is appropriate

I think it's still to early to call Home. For me I never had much interest - I'm more of a solo, SP player and not really interested in online social interaction. I suspect it will find a following. The question is will it find enough of one and will it deliver a return?

I hear that items, etc. do sell on it, so from that viewpoint it may be something to watch. I suspect it won't be until it gets a fair amount of gaming/locales that we'll really see how it develops.

One thing I think Sony are missing is pushing more interesting stuff through it. Imagine an Insomniac or Sucker Punch hosted presentation or some such, or some decent additional games content only through Home? That would be interesting I think.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...
