This is roughly equivalent to people giving up readings books forever if they move from being printed on paper to being electronically distributed on a device that can be read in light exactly like paper.
That's not a strong analogy, I admit, but damn, people. You're going to give up a whole medium for no good reason.
of course its part of this generation, it was released as part of this gen
Well I say good riddance then. Gaming has been held back by the control dinosaurs for years. And of course they won't just rip-off the Wii control, they will see what worked and what didn't and improve it. IR is a near certainty though.
Most of the fanboys are too young to remember the epic battles over how much "digital rules" and "analog is a silly gimmick". Or how 3d was ruining gaming. You can add interactive control to that list as well in about 5 years.
Arguing with the teens and early 20-somethings about gaming trends is always comic because they don't realize how their same failed arguments have been trotted out for decades.

yeah the wii is part of the generation. this is just my opinion, but i think that if the wii wasn't currently the console sales leader, people would include it because it wasn't in first. nintendo coming back to the top after two straight gens of sony dominance has people trying to downplay what the wii is all about. people should accept that the wii is simply a more popular console. while it's true that the graphics are much of a step up from the gamecube, the wii is a revolution in gaming despite it not appealing to me. i do own one but i prefer my 360. i give nintedo credit, the are making one hell of a comeback
