The Wii is a Stand definition console and can only play games in 480p resolution.
The X360 and PS3 both can play games up to 1080p.
HD refers to resolutions: 720p, 1080i and 1080p.
The X360 should be able to outsell PS3 by end of generation by 10 million consoles ltd.

No, dude, you read the question, "Which HD console will honestly win this gen?" a question which asks which of the two HD consoles will win the gen. If the question had just been, "Which HD console will win?" your interperetaion would be correct. The question implied an HD console would win. A minor thing but it's incorrect regardless.

I interpret the thread as "Which HD console will sell more this generation out of PS3 and X360?".
The HD console war is the battle between X360 and PS3.
Gamers cared more about Gamecube and XBox battle last generation, despite PS2 having a run away sales lead over its opposition.
People were bored of PS2 winnning the console wars last generation and a lot of people are bored of Wii winning this generation. 50% of console owners own a Wii love to rub the salt into the worunds and gloat just like the 70% PS2 owners gloated last generation. 50% of console owners own either an X360 or PS3. (Not taken into account people who own more than one console-FTW). Wiis top selling games have dominated the charts for over 100 weeks on end since its launch and most of the Wii top sellers are the same ones that track in the top 100.
For the past two generations the console with the lowest technical specifications: PS2 and now Wii comprehensively outsold their competitors. Capturing more of the casual market and bringing non-gamers helps anyone's cause.
The Wii and PS2 dominance is due to their CNC markets dominance over its competitors. CNC = Casuals/ Non-Gamers and Children(under 18 years of age).

Of course, that assumes that the X360 will still be on the market for as long as the PS3. That would be incorrect. MS said the X360 might be on the market for 7 years. The PS3 lifecycle has been announced as 9 ot 10 years. That's a 2 to 3 year period with NO X360. Now, at 2.3 million consoles per quarter, how long would it take to make up 7 to 8 million console sales? Here's a hint: it's nowhere near 6 years. Hell, it's nowhere near 2 years!
