I interpret the thread as "Which HD console will sell more this generation out of PS3 and X360?".
The HD console war is the battle between X360 and PS3.
Gamers cared more about Gamecube and XBox battle last generation, despite PS2 having a run away sales lead over its opposition.
People were bored of PS2 winnning the console wars last generation and a lot of people are bored of Wii winning this generation. 50% of console owners own a Wii love to rub the salt into the worunds and gloat just like the 70% PS2 owners gloated last generation. 50% of console owners own either an X360 or PS3. (Not taken into account people who own more than one console-FTW). Wiis top selling games have dominated the charts for over 100 weeks on end since its launch and most of the Wii top sellers are the same ones that track in the top 100.
For the past two generations the console with the lowest technical specifications: PS2 and now Wii comprehensively outsold their competitors. Capturing more of the casual market and bringing non-gamers helps anyone's cause.
The Wii and PS2 dominance is due to their CNC markets dominance over its competitors. CNC = Casuals/ Non-Gamers and Children(under 18 years of age).
