Forums - Sales - RE5 Debuts at 530K in EU ~ 52% PS3, 48% 360 ----- GOOD or BAD? (WW = 930K)!

According to AJ, RE5 has narrowly won the first week sales battle on PS3 narrowly beating X360 version of RE5. Remember people HD games in Japan have no legs. Second week HD game sales drops right off and then practically no sales of the game after week two onwards in Japan. This golden rule does not apply to DS, PSP and Wii game sales in Japan.

By end of the month X360 RE5 sales due to legs in Europe and mainly NA where X360's install base is more than 8 million than PS3 should see RE5 on XBox 360 win the game sales ltd war in regards to RE5 ltd game sales.

I also expect RE5 should be coming to PC within a year.

Seems fair.

why would you combine the PS360 version to go against the poor GC? Why not add the PS2 in....it's just not fair.

the PS3 alone in japan still way high for the gamecube.

why do many ps3 multiplats outsell their 360 counterparts in europe? Doesn't the 360 have the higher install base that are also supposed to be more hardcore?

@Pristine: Its probably due to the fact that this is an old Sony franchise since its been on the PS1 and PS2 as well as the PS3 whilst it never came on the 360.

Tease.

RE was born on PS which is fair enough. So how about a game like street fighter IV as well?

The PS3 userbase is older, so perhaps more are familiar with the series or you have your hardcore tekken fans who own the system. Just like hardcore FPS fans buy extra copies of shooters on the 360.

Since when? Tekken is a lot different from street fighter. I don't think tekken fanatism could sell any significant number of copies of sf4.

From what you said, it would seem that shooter fans are simply more abundant on 360 (at least in europe) while their ps3 counterparts simply prefer buying from other genres. This conclusion makes the most sense to me.

The hardcore BS people have been throwing around regarding 360 software sales hasn't been refutable till now. EU is the best region for SW comparisons since the ps3 and 360 userbases are virtually tied with the edge going to 360

How about Call of Duty WaW or MW?

Older series with roots on the PS1/PS2 sell usually slightly better on the PS3. That is normal. Newer franchises (or franchises that became popular not that long ago) like CoD sell slightly better on the Xbox360.

Europe is a draw for me.

Imagine not having GamePass on your console...

The D-pad is a known quantity, thats about all I can think to justify the difference. As hardcore owners are more prevalent in the first week then perhaps that can explain the difference?

Street fighter's roots are not on ps2/ps1. The series was popularized on snes and laid in a coma through much of the PS era.

I already conceeded that the 360 has more shooter fans while the ps3 has fans in other genres.

The picture people like to paint on this site is that ps3 owners only watch movies and don't buy games while the 360 has teh hardcorez
