Forums - Gaming - Vanishing Gamecube titles

There must be a trend of people who are purchasing gamecube games for their wii as it seems that quite a few gamecube games are rather hard to find these days.

I have been looking from time to time for Beyond Good and Evil for cube.  I should of bought the game when it was selling for $7 new at gamestop!  But I passed on it.  I finally did find a used copy of the game today for a steal at $14.99 at EB games (this games is selling for at least $40 used on line, and I even saw one crazy fool who was asking $100 for the game new in the box).

I passed on Pikmin 2 for the longest time waiting for it to be at a budget price, and now I can't find the game anywhere.

I passed on the Mega Man collection once, and never saw it in a store again!

Anyone else having a hard time finding Gamecube titles in stores?

Maybe the stores are just phasing out the titles because the Gamecube is a dead system

That is definately true, however, stores like Gamestop and EB Games have a whole host of used games all the time.  It is difficult to find certain titles even in the used game section

Even used games get phased out.

I'd recommend eBay for a game you can't find.

Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )

Most likely getting phased out. Yeah ebay is good. Also, game crazy will order some games for you, but it costs 6 bucks.

I got Beyond Good and Evil a little ways back. Haven't played it much yet, though. I've been looking to stock up on GCN games for a while.

And no, I guarantee they're not "phasing them out" YET. They're consolidating to select stores. For crying out loud, it was just last year that they phased out their N64 stocks.

I haven't put forth a massive effort yet, but Starfox Assault has eluded me for a month now. I'll probably just go to amazon, and order every 'cube game I passed on. There are about 5 games I feel will make my collection complete.

But "phasing out" doesn't explain costing $40 used most places he looks.

I see the exact same thing with the Wavebird, and don't even TRY to tell me that's not sought after.

That said, that's only for certain games that were underproduced compared to the game's quality (BG&E and others). A similar phenomenon is true of games that are just very popular: for instance, my local GameCrazy can't keep used SSBM in stock.

I have the most epic death scene ever in VGChartz Mafia.  Thanks WordsofWisdom!

Many Game Cube games are still full priced, at least where I was. (Toys-R-Us)

I want to pick up a copy of Melee, Baten Kaitos 1/2, Skies, maybe even F-Zero or Sunshine. Apparently they are going to cost me for a while, or possibly disappear.

However, there is no excuse for a DS game that came out around 2 years ago-Advance Wars Dual Strike- to be unavailable at stores...

I had to pay $40 for it, though it was worth it.
