its only selling because its cheap, if it wasnt so cheap it wouldn't sell half as much and i think the ps3 has done well to sell as much as it has considering the price

well according to my calculations the PS3 is selling around the 450,000-550,000 units a month which by the end of the year should see them hit 25m units.....

that is without holiday periods/price cuts included......

what more can sony expect....?

that will see it above the GC and XBOX....

I know, so tbh its pleasing when you look at it like that, but with the holiday seasons and Gran Turismo 5 in Europe (maybe not this year), it should do better. Sony needs to:

Continue delivering hardcore titles

Start delivering big casual hits

The Wii and 360 has proved that price is not as big a factor as the games (although a PS3 price cut would make it look more appealing vs. Wii at £200)

The PS3 will eventually pass 24million. I think the XBox 360 will pass 40 million. The Wii is heading toward 60 million and if Nintendo keeps it out on the market for 8-10yrs it could easily surpass the PS2 sales numbers. The Wii hasn't even been out for 3 yrs yets.

having looked at a couple of online stores in the uk......i know you can pick up just the console if you want,but these are some packages.....

for what i paid in nov 2007 which was £349......for a 60gb PS3 you now get...

160gb....fifa 09,smackdown2009,LBP,a controller,4 down loadable games GT5P,R&C search for bootie,the last guy and stardust hd......for a whopping £341.....

plus PS3 packages down to £299.....with LBP.....

the wii is always £179 with a game.......

and the 360arcade is a £125 .....straight up cheapest and £139 with GOW2
there are other arcade packages...

the 360 60gb is £160 straight up ...to £195 with 4 games....QOS,PG4,BK nuts & bolts,SSStennis......there are other packages inbetween

the elite 120gb is £210 straight up...to £250 with 3 games PG4,BK nuts & bolts,SSStennis.......or

elite 120gb £260 with saints row 2 & pro evo 2009
....................£273 with fable 2 & far cry 2
....................£274 with GOW2 & far cry 2........

of course you get remotes and controllers thrown in certain 360 packages aswell.....

anyway i'm sure there are other packages and it's off thread but just some uk package info for anyone that might of wanted to know.....

and you can see why not so many people buy the PS3......and it's hard to see it changing.....

oh and at sony.co.uk a PS3 is £289 with LBP.....
