Ok from time to time I've been making a few threads about the upcoming Dragonball movie that looked horrible, it looked God awful and I wanted to destroy it before it ever came out.  Now that I watched it I can tell you it's a B movie, pure and simple, it's a B movie, and when it finally hits the states I'll stick to my plan of getting some friends together and trashing it.

Now how is it a B movie that didn't destroy everything that is Dragonball?  Simply this, they did get a few things right, characters like Bulma, Yamcha, Roshi, and sometimes Chi-chi were written in character and kept some of their charms, now Goku, the plot, and Piccolo are another story entirely.

Things the movie did right:

1. Characters - Yamcha was done the best by far, just like he was in the Dragonball series, Bulma, still had the same personality and was slightly more useful, Roshi, still crazy and perverted, and Chi-chi while having some moments of being hormonally charged, overall she's still Chi-chi.
2. The World - If you take out the high school scene the world is pretty much set up, you have flying cars, capsules, Goku lives in the woods with his Grandpa and Roshi out by himself on a island (not sure about this one as the quality was bad I knew his house was all alone and looked like water about it :P)
3. Action - The fights were done right, nice effects, and just overall good.

EPIC FAIL:

1. Goku - Going to high school, WHAT?  Out for vengence, WHAT??  Not innocent and oblivious, WHAT???  You see where this is going, only in some moments does he act like Goku, but 99% of the time don't expect him to.  (also no tail = EPIC FAILURE)
   
2. The Dragon balls - Made by seven sages... (NO) No Kami?  (NO)
   
3. Piccolo - 2000 years old apparently???  Looks like his face was hit by an 18-wheeler.  Still evil and such, but really lacking the personality of King Piccolo from the anime.
4. Plot - As an action movie it's shallow but alright, as a dragonball movie it's a mess, they took the plot of the whole Dragonball anime up to the Piccolo Junior saga and tried to roll it up into one, Piccolo killed Gohan instead of Monkey Goku to tie things together, the main plots it put together were Goku + Pulma searching for the dragon balls, Roshi training Goku, and King Piccolo trying to destroy the world.  It tries but fails and makes what could have been a solid plot for an action movie a bit shallow, so it alienates both Dragonball fans and action movie fans, hurrah!
5. Monkey form Goku - Not only lacking a tail but not 90 stories tall nor activated by moonlight... brilliant.
6. Kamehameha - The kamehameha is now an air bending technique?  FAIL

I could go on about where this movie does things right and wrong but honestly it's a B movie if you love B movies as I do and love to make fun of them by all means go watch it.  If you're just a huge Dragonball fan go at your own risk of being pissed.  And if you're an action movie fan, if you can look past the shallow story and like crazy action, it's worth a watch.

OOOH Now I get it I was like "is that some kind of you tube thing of Dragonball?" but now I see <_< so obvious too... -_-

So, while id didnt destroy everything that is Dragonball Z, it bascially did nothing right, at least the most important parts anyway. So screw this movie, I wasnt really interested in the first place, now I will stay as far away as possible.

Thanks for the info, I think I'll steer clear of this one.

My Dragonball obsessed son is probably going to drag me to this anyway. Sigh. But at least the action is good.
