lol, didnt it get taken down? werent sales tracked randomly?

I don't know if it got taken down, but the sales weren't tracked randomly. In fact they went up in a relatively constant manner, since they used an algorithm. I think the owner used to readjust the numbers, and the algorithm, everytime the 3 released their shipment numbers, but I stopped going there a while ago.

Hmm.. I always thought it was different.

If you looked at their numbers, they were almost always within 1m +/- of what VGChartz was at either 3 or 6 (can't remember) months before.

By being 3 months late, they had the shipment numbers. Thus, they did

Total Ps3s sold from 1st January to 1st April 08 = 2,712,000

Minutes in those 3 months: ~ 130,000

Ps3 ticks: 20 a minute, or every third second.

I hink the owner was just too lazy.... I don't believe the algorithm was changed at all, and the totals were only adjusted a few times.

I tracked it's numbers for about 5-6 weeks and it is always the same.

----

Edit... Their numbers have actually been adjusted now, by the looks of it to the December 2008 shipment numbers... except the counter now seems pretty biased against the Wii.

From the last shipment figures PS3 and X360 have moved about 85k each, and the Wii 115k.

Before January though was when I last checked and it had fallen a long way behind VGC because there was no Christmas boost.... the X360 was the only one relatively close to target (still 1-2 million behind) while the Wii was about 8 million short, and the PS3 3 or 4 million short.

I did the same thing as super_etecoon. I remember those two sites he mentioned.

Nextgen wars was a counter, which was cool to look at, but I doubted it's accuracy.
Console wars I liked better. It was more logical. They had discussion boards and all types of data tracking.

Then I came across VGChartz and forgot about the rest. When VGChartz started doing weekly sales, it was game over for the other sites. The forums came about and it drew me in to participate, not instantly, but when the Final Fantasy XIII bomb dropped. ~_n

www.thesimexchange.com does the prediction side of things. It track sales but only with regards to predictions with the predictions themselves falling into lifetime sales and NPD monthly numbers.

It might have been that way, I can't recall. The last time I visited was at the end of 07 (the time I joined here). I just remember there numbers being lower for pretty much everything.

nexgenwars is still up but the counter is broken i think and hasn't changed in a while.

I would actually come to this site , check on numbers and be on my way, i did that for a few months until one day i wanted to respond to a post and made myself a ScreenName and the rest is history
so my answer is NO i would have found such a site similar to this
