Forums - Gaming - Did you buy a console just because of its brand?

Yes I bought every Nintendo console (after NES - by that time there was no real brand name just good games) because of the brand. Bought Wii cause I knew it would mean a new Zelda, Super Mario, Pikmin (you hear that Nintendo - a new Pikmin not ports of old Pikmins), F Zero, Smash Bros, Mario Kart.

I don't have a big history with consoles.
I had a Gameboy in 94 I think, nothing to do with the brand, my parents bought it.
I bought my PS2 late and it already had a lot of great games.
And I bought my PSP and PS3 not because of brand loyalty or games but because they are amazing pieces of hardware that allow to do many things besides gaming.

They will know Helgan belongs to Helghasts

Yup, I bought Nintendo consoles only from SNES to Wii.

...I also bought a used Atari 2600 because of the ET game....hehe.

I buy consoles for games not brands so no, though if you asked me which hardware I trust from launch and company to cover me if anything happens to the console then it'd be Nintendo.

I don't know why, but I always wanted a genesis back in the days. My parents asked about a SNES, but I wanted that genesis. My neighbour and best friend had a SNES, it was a win/win situation for two 10years old boys. No Fanboy-wars those days :D

The N64 was the way to go after Sega wasn't on my radar anymore. It just had the better graphics. The N64 was a great console (for me). The only bad thing was the "easy-to-break-controller". But GoldenEye, Mario Kart 64, Zelda Ocarina of Time, Mario 64, Wave Race and Extreme G were awesome.

I bought my Dreamcast because of the brand. I wanted to get my Sega back. And damn, that was a lucky shot. One (or THE) of the best consoles EVER. Sadly ahead of its time. But Shenmue I / II, Resident Evil Code Veronica, Sonic, Crazy Taxi were great games.

I bought the original Xbox, because it was technically the best console out there. Halo1, Halo2, Fable, CounterStrike, Splinter Cell, Doom3 and finally the ability to play online made this console worth it.

The Xbox360 was a bought, because of the brand, Halo, my clanmates, and technical improvements. And I don't regret it at all. The Xbox360 delivers games I wouldn't have thought of to play this gen. GTA IV, DMC, Tekken, Final Fantasy, Resident Evil etc.

The only console I actually sold, because I didn't like it was the PS1. It was inferior to the N64 IMO. Loading-times and the controller killed any possible fun. That is where the Playstation brand lost me. The controller hasn't changed since then.

Imagine not having GamePass on your console...

Umm sort of. I got my ps2 because I didn't know there was such thing as an xbox yet... glad I got it over xbox btw.

With my ps3 I sorta bought it because it was playstation... but I mainly bought it for the new ratchet and clank game on ps3.

No! i got the nintendo 64 as a gift didnt get the gamecube and bought a wii for the gameplay

N64 is the ONLY console of the fifth generation!

bet with *no one yet* that the combined first week of Monster Hunter 3 in america and europe will be 600k or more! winner changes looser sig and avatar for two months!

When the brand guarantees a certain class of games that i love, yeah. Sticking with Nintendo hasn't screwed me over yet

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

yep all Nntendo

IMO: The Playstation brand means it comes with a variety of games, and we all like varieties =P
