Forums - Gaming - Did you buy a console just because of its brand?

PS1, because it was the IN thing back when it came out. I begged my mom and finally got one.

  • 2010 MUST Haves: WKC, Heavy Rain, GoWIII, Fable III, Mass Effect 2, Bayonetta, Darksiders, FFXIII, Alan Wake, No More Heroes 2, Fragile Dreams: FRotM, Trinity: SoZ, BFBC2.
  • Older Need To Buys: Super Mario Bros. Wii, Mario Kart Wii, Deadspace, Demon's Souls, Uncharted 2.

There is definitely more to list that I want, but that's my main focus there.

I go where the devs go, and it just so happens that Nintendo and Sony are my favorite development houses. Thus, I own a wii, ds, ps3, and psp.

Though when I was younger I was different.  I bought an N64 at launch because it was "the new Nintendo!"

Games, I haven't bought any consoles, because theres just no games I like for them.

Well I was given an XBox and I really enjoyed it. I am also a member of Microsoft Expert Zone and I got two XBox 360s (Pro) which I purchased for a $100 each. I think the 360 is the best console this generation so it worked out great.

Let me see:

Atari: 2600
Nintendo: FAMICOM, SNES, N64, Gamecube (for a short time), Wii, GB, GBA, DS
Sega: Megadrive, Dreamcast, Game Gear
Sony: PS1, PS2, PS3, PSP
Microsoft: Windows (hey, that counts as platform for gaming)

1st factor in common: Games, i luv Ninty/Sony/Sega 1st party games, and the 3rd party has been on either a Ninty or Sony platform (except this gen with the 360 but most of the titles are multi or going to be multi, and that includes PC)...

The other factor is reliability, i have no complains with Ninty and Sony consoles, and i had one problem with the Megadrive but nothing serious...

I prefer PC elitist title more. ;)

Seriously all console games are just way too simple.

The only company I do that for now is Nintendo. I used to do that with Sega as well. That is because I can count on their first party development teams to deliver quality games. With MS and Sony, I have to wait to see what third parties do. Since I can get by without Sony and MS first party games.

I got the DS because it was clamshell.

I got the Wii because of the new controls.

The 360 had halo 3. Since thats the game that I play most with my friends it was the only viable choice really.
