Even if this issue is a minor one, it'll still make MS look like they didn't really learn all that much, not to mention careless compared to their competitors - I haven't exactly heard of Wiis or PS3:s bricking after their respective launches. Even little things like this can sway prospective owners into choosing different systems, and MS should know that by now. |
to be fair the 60 gig PS3 models are starting to fail at a fairly alarming rate

Do you think the 60 gig PS3 failures have something to do with the E74 error on the 360, or is this some kind of deflection?
Thanks for the input, Jeff.
^I'm sure they are directly related
The 60 and 80GB back compat models of PS3 are both suffering from lots of Blu-Ray drive failures that chalk in at around $150 to fix out of warranty.

I guess you missed my point, what does the PS3 have to do with the E74 problem on the 360. This thread is discussing a specific issue that only affects the Xbox 360. It would exist with or without any hardware problems that the PS3 may experience. Get it? It's comments like these that cause these threads go from being mildly productive to derailing into typical fanboy nonsense.

I wouldn't mind to have another year added to my warrany.
Heavens to Murgatoids.

Nope. Falcon models that develop GPU problems that used to give a RROD get an E74 error instead. I'm sure it is less common, but the issue wasn't fixed when MS released the Falcon model. |
My Falcon Elite just recently died with E74. The display started breaking up then the flashing red light. When it came back from MS there was a very bog standard letter with a box ticked saying my motherboard has been replaced.
Most failures are heat related, MS has SLOWLY improved its manufacturing process and reduced power needs and it looks like the new Jasper models could FINALLY put these issues to rest!
Also I checked my warranty status online after it was returned to me and it has only been extended by 6 months!! I will be complaining!

Actually it is threads like these that are non-productive at all and are simply trying to bring notice to very minor issues in order to incite fanboy response. This is why myself and others have been taking a very sarcastic approach and are merely pointing out how we too can point out minor issues to make the PS3 look like it's failing at a catastropic rate when in reality the issue is very small.
I think you're the one not getting something here. This thread is a joke, being fed by an article that is a joke, being fed by a few hundred or less gathered complaints from -- and I stress this clearly -- FORUMS! You know, the place where fanboys run wild.... Yeah. This thread was a fail from the start. We just decided to help it out and point the fingers where they all belong.
I received that message the first time I ever turned on my Xbox 360.
Not a 360 fanboy, just a PS3 fanboy hater that likes putting them in their place ^.^
My 360 is working fine for the moment.
It's red ringed twice already. If I get this error i'm done with it.
