I think it has to do with cthe ratio of cost vs benefit or the ps3's low RAM

Call me an idiot, but...

You're an idiot.

Can't believe you guys, so rude. He even asked nicely.

Compression takes effort. You can do some compression to a certain degree without losing quality but that takes a lot of tweaking.

The publisher jump on it because there's more profit per sale.

In China, if you haven't caught up with the news. Pirates are using DVD 720P from ripping Blu-ray and sell them as Blu-ray.

Quality lose if minimal.

Why would they sell you a DVD for $10 when they can sell you Blu-ray for $30?

Resolution in games doesn´t depends on size of game. I can have game, that is 100 MB big and still is 1080p.

Resolution depends more on power of console. Unfortunatelly, no today console is strong enough to produce 1080p without sacrifices. Maybe next generation.

That's not true. Sony said otherwise.

No Galaki, it's true.

Even Wipeout HD is NOT real steady 1080p.

I thought Galaki was being sarcastic but maybe it's just me.

I thought that was obviously obvious.

Sorry, my bad.

There are so many gullible Sony fanboys in the wild... you never know.

^both GT5 and Wipeout are 1080p, but it downscale to 1680x1080p in some modes like split screen or when it's heavy.
