I like how Wii gets these rail shooters. I mean who wants to explore levels? Mindlessly shooting is just a much better experience and cheaper to develop.

I'm fairly certain 95% of FPS or shooters in general involve little exploration and just mindlessly shooting.

Also, you're not a fan of rollcoasters then? No exploration and you're mindlessly going down a set pathway anyway (which let's face it, is most games when broken down).

In many FPS games you solve puzzles, use some sort of strategy (i.e. CoD, Farcry), and multiplayer battles ofcourse take full advantage of moving around freely. A rail shooter is much less complex and dated experience in comparison. The Wii feels and plays like a last-gen console with next-gen prices.

The shooter genre is not meant to explore. It is meant for mindless shooting. It is same in Halo 3, Killzone 2, Gears of War 2, Dead Space or Dead Space Extraction.

If you want a game with exploring and shooter elements buy Metroid Prime 3.

To z101:

Well you only named off a few game that are linear but still a much more unique experience than a rail shooter. And I'm sure when you heard Dead Space was coming to the Wii you were hoping it would be more like the 360 and PS3 releases. Same goes for the upcoming Resident Evil.

this one is impressive -

I don't know what to think, cuz I hear all this praise for the wii-mote being excellent for FPS, and yet as time goes on, more and more on rail arcade shooters come out.

It seems to me that the wii is much better suited to on rail arcade shooters than FPS, it also suites the market that the wii is aiming at, perhaps that's why there are so many coming out.

Why are you people ignoring that these rail shooters are just a way for developers to cash in with out producing a quality title? When was a rail shooter voted game of the year?

Also would you guys be happy if they were to bring Oblivion to the Wii as a rail shooter? How about Grand Theft Auto as a rail shooter? Lets just make everything a rail shooter!

Thats twice now, Your aware that most Wii owners have been waiting 2 yrs already for mature titles, the fact they are on rails doesn't bother most of them. Myself, yea i know what your saying, i agree but don't troll too much about the Wii, you will pay for it.

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.

To megaman79:

Well if you want mature games than why get a console that is considered family friendly? Doesn't Nintendo keep developers from putting sex, drugs, and alcohol in games? I don't go to YouTube for hardcore porn and I don't go to the Wii for mature games.

Sorry if you consider what I'm doing as trolling. If anything I'm disappointed that devlopers don't put more effort into Wii games.
