Forums - Gaming - The first game YOU realised sucked?

I think the first time I recall being really dissapointed in a game was when I bought Dinowarz: Destruction of Spondylus.  The box art was deceivingly cool, and the thought of playing as a mecha-dino had me excited.  Unfortunately, after spending some time with it and being totally disgusted with my waste of money I never picked it back up.

Here's a link to a "review" that some guy did that basically felt the same way I did.  Has a couple screen shots to really show the crap that it was.

I don't know that I've ever actually played a game that I thought jsut outright sucked - if I did, I didn't bother to remember it.

My least pleasant experience with a video game was probably... hm. Anybody remember the mascot from the Summer Olympics a while back, an anthropomorphic Olympic torch? He had his own sidescrolling video game.

It was not great.

It was also available on the Genesis.

Wrestle Mania on the NES.

I am sure that was the first game I played and thought: "Wow, this sucks."

I'm gonna pull a bardicverse here and say "Yeah that was horrible, but I beat it anyway."  Looking back now though, yeah it was really really bad.

Some of you have already said Shaq Fu.
If Rubang catches this thread he'll tell you why Shq Fu is actually awsome and we're all wrong.

My reputation precedes me!  Interested parties may read my "In Defense of Shaq Fu" post here.

But if it's the first game you realized sucked, I can't argue that.  It did suck.  Just not as bad as many other games from 1993, or before, or today.  If you think Shaq Fu sucked, play Rise of the Robots (1994).  Or watch a gameplay video here.  (It's the whole game in under 10 minutes, but I doubt anybody here has the patience to watch the whole thing, let alone play it.)

Friday the 13th on the NES. Ugh.

Yeah, same for me.  I still played the hell out of it, but it was the first time I remember thinking "Wow, this isn't actually fun."

and Super James Pond (high five if you know what this game is).

High five

I'll partake in this high five as well.

Nintendo World Cup.

Dear god that game is bad.

If anybody in this thread watches this video and thinks anything other than "Holy shit how did I miss out on that amazing Kunio-kun soccer game?"... you should never play a video game again.  It's soccer, but with the same controls as River City Ransom and Super Dodge Ball.  You can beat the shit out of each other, and actually leave players unconcscious or dead on the field and keep playing.  It's intense.

This is not only my favorite soccer game, I think it's the best sports game on the NES.  There's even a 2-in-1 cartridge with this and Super Spike V'Ball, which is the best NES cartridge there is.  To this day I still love to hook up my Four Score and play Nintendo World Cup 2 on 2 on a big screen TV.  It's up there with NBA Jam Tournament Edition as best sports party game ever.

Shame on you KylieDog.  Shame on you!

Star Wars: Episode I Racer. Worst Birthday present ever. I looked forward to it so much. But it was so... horrible.

When I was 16 I got chicken pox and missed a week of school (finals week, booyah).  I think I played this game for the whole week.  What didn't you like about it?  You race fast as hell.  What more did you expect from pod racing?  Hadn't you seen the movie?

Well I grew up with the NES. So just about anything that wasn't Mario sucked.

And YOU sir, just hand in your gamer badge and find a new hobby.

this here is OGRE BATTLE, the one am talking about i dont know what game you are talking about, but this is an abomination for a 14 year old that has Mortal Kombat 2 and chrono triggers.

I'm gonna say The Simpsons: Bart vs. the Space Mutants for NES. I tried to convince myself it was good. I really did. Oh god the controls... ahhh.

well, I'd have to start with the very first game I played which was PONG. That was truly the worst game I played. I was intrigued for about 30mins trying to beat the computer in Pong, but after that, the game was too boring and repetitive. The game was a bit more exciting against another player, but you could literally play for hours unless the game had a timer set on it.

Oh come on that is most fanboish thing I have read all day. Sure Halo 3 was disappointing, but a bad game? You are just trying to troll. There have been dozens of worst FPSs this gen, and thousands of shittier games in the last few decades. "Nothing special" hardly qualifies as suckage

Congrats you are the first person to ever make me defend Halo 3.
