Forums - Gaming - Is gamefly worth it?

For someone who has a DS, GC, Wii, and is going to buy a PS2 once it FINALLY dies, and will likely get an Xbox360 for xmas...

Also, I play games kinda funny. I love multiplayer games, and play some for 6 years plus (kirby air ride and ssbm have been worth every penny)

Also, when I have 3 hours to play games, it goes something like this:

go on internet for 1 hour

play sonic advenutre 2 choa garden 15 minutes

play zedla: TP 45 minutes

play smash bros 30 minutes

play super mario 64 for 2.5 hours (lost track of time lol)

I love going back and re-visiting old games, yet I would love to go back and essentailly sample all the GC/xbox360/ps2/ds games I have so far missed, but I'm afraid with gamefly I would feel kinda rushed, yet I would would be able to play more games...

gamefly sucks, slow shipping and they just had a price increase. unfortanely there is nothing better out there

Everyone I know that has it really likes it. I personally don't play enough games to justify it but if you're an achievement whore you'll love it.

GameFly is great.

For $5 a month, it's plenty good. And shipping isn't bad. I sent a game in Friday, and got my next game on Wednesday. Which is fine with me. My friend just signed up on Monday and got his first game yesterday, so that's pretty normal.

Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )

$5 a month, what Gamefly are YOU talking about? I see these prices on theri site:

1 Game out
$8.95 First Month
+ Magazine bonus ($15.95/month thereafter)
2 Games out
$12.95 First Month
+ Magazine bonus ($22.95/month thereafter)
2 Games out
Free Trial 10 Days
+ Magazine bonus ($22.95/month thereafter)

You do not have the right to never be offended.

Oh, well I'm including Brightspot.tv

Seriously, go to Brightspot.tv right now and check it out.

All you need to do is just watch a few commercials per month, and they credit up to $10 towards your GameFly account every month, based on how many ads you watched. It takes about twenty 30 second advertisements to get to $10 credit, and it's totally worth it.

You get paid to watch ads, and it's only about a half hour total of your time per month. I think you can also use Brightspot.tv for Napster music downloads now too.

Though I guess GameFly did raise the price...now it's "$6" a month for me...sorta.

I actually have free GameFly service through the end of this year.

I participated in their "Get 5 friends to sign up for GameFly and get a free Wii" program in June. I got the free Wii a couple weeks ago, so that's pretty sweet. But it was supposed to get here the first week of August, not the second to last week of August, so GameFly gave me free service through December, which is pretty sweet.

Also, I'm still watching about a half hour of ads every month, so I'm stocking up on money for when my free year of GameFly ends hehe. This way, I can forget about Brightspot.tv for a while, since I'll have about $50-$60 GameFly credit by the time I have to start paying again hehe.

Actually I'm on Brightspot right now, while I'm typing some fantasy football commercial i playing in the back round. Definately worth the $10 off.

Also, if you really like a game you can purchase it from them for sometimes half of retail. I got Mario Party 8 for $40 including tax and they gave me free shipping. But they had excite trunk and SSX blur for under $25.

I really have enjoyed my account, and have gotten to play games I never would have otherwise.

Yeah, it's always free shipping. And if you buy a game, like I bought Pokemon: Diamond when it came out from GameFly (I rented it and decided to keep it), it cost $30 flat instead of $35 plus tax, and they sent the official game case and all the instruction booklets and official papers were in the case like new.

I live in Ohio, which is really close to the Pittsburgh distribution center so I get my games in Two business days usually. Thaought I'd add that in case you lived close to PA, or CA.
