DS is selling a shiteload of software.
IMO, the difference is people tend to buy handhelds more "casually". We have one Wii in the house - for 4-5 people.
We have... 4.. 5.. 6 DS's for the same number of people.
Same amount of software - it all gets shared around.
...
So its a collective thing: one household buys a Wii, 10 games - everyone plays. One household buys 10 DS games - and then buys 5 DS's, and shares the games - everyone plays.
The games that don't get shared - Mario Kart, Brain Age, Nintendogs - they tend to sell massive numbers (i.e. 20m sales).
Especially with the Wii, you could almost equate "controllers" to handheld units...
...
Regardless of how much VG undertracks PSP software - how often do we see PSP software in charts for Europe/US? Almost never. When is the last time a PSP title got into the NPD top#10?
Its doing a lot better in Japan now at least!

Piracy really hurts the gaming business. Pirates should just stick to music and movies :/ don't mess with the gaming economy.

Those who only own handhelds (whether they be the DS, PSP, or both) are usually very casual, and don't buy as many games. People who buy more games and view gaming as a hobby usually own a home console and give their handhelds less attention. That said, the DS sells a lot of software regardless of attach rates. |
A lot more DS games are undertracked than PSP games. DS is way more undertracked than PSP ;)
