Yet again the media has double standards
The FBI today released a statement saying that a Man who idolised The Joker was shot dead by Police after he threatened them with a Shotgun.
The man was suspected of stabbing a fellow soldier just a few hours before. Now my best wishes go out to the soldier who was stabbed and his family and hope for a speedy recovery, this article will focus on how the media has portrayed the story.
From what I understand it is clear that the man who was shot by police clearly has been influenced by the recent Batman film ‘The Dark Knight’. While the article does state this, what the article doesn’t do is condemn the film in any way or shape for having this effect on people. Which leads to the question why have they jumped on the bandwagon and blamed games whenever a similar incident has occurred but with the person in question playing a game rather than watching a film.
Recently there have been a few more examples of games getting blamed. One example is that games cause people go harm animals. What makes the article laughable is that the only evidence that the writer has to go by is that most the attacks are by people in the teenage age group and that because the same age group also has the most gamers in, it must mean that gamers are harming animals.
Another example is that games have been blamed for dropping attendances at national parks. While they have no evidence to back this, it seems like they took the easy root out and attacked games rather than actually work on finding ways to increase attendances again.
These are just a couple of many examples out there where games have been attacked. Personally i can’t wait for the day when the media drop their bias against games and wake up and realise that they are attacking the biggest entertainment industry out there will games now outselling Films and Music. Still the day when this happens will come sooner rather than later with more high profile jobs being filled by people from the gaming generation who see gaming as a great form of entertainment and not as a ‘Kids Toy’ and then gaming will get the respect from the media it truly deserves.

I agree....GAMEs just don't get the same amount of mainstream RESPECT that films n music get.
I really don';t know why....its just another form of entertainment
if your mum watches Eastenders....you play Cal of duty......THERE IS DIFFERENCE SEEN....its not seen as the same thing!
