what?? why does everyone says cloud and sephiroth??. those characters are amazing. in this case i am going to agree with @the anarchyz, pikachu for me is overrated i dont know what people see in him or in all pokemon games seriously. i once played a pokemon game on a gameboy and another in a N64 and i just didnt like it at all. i dont know why those games sell so much. but in the end is about tastes. please dont kill me nintendo fans please.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again.  I'll keep saying it too until this site gets it's act together.  This is vgchartz.

And you're right, it is about tastes.  It's too bad that this crap is hindering vgchartzs' community expansion.  Isn't that what the community wanted?  Do the members want vgchartz to expand?

Wait, wait, why is people calling Sephiroth and Cloud overrated somehow stunting the growth of the community?

It's not that specifically, it's the lack of variety of opinions on vgchartz.  This is one of them involved.  Almost everytime something good is said about FF7 on a topic title or even involving FF7 in anyway, the same posters will go in there and give their extremely subjective opinion on the matter and won't accept anyone else's opinion other than their own.  They won't even argue objectively, they practically refuse and will constantly hound out anything good about FF7.    I'm not saying anything negative said about FF7 shouldn't be said, I'm saying that if it is going to be said negatively, back it up 100% objectively or don't say anything.  This goes with any game, subject, character etc.

If something is said positively about any game, it's actually ok to say anything subjective about it then.  Because it doesn't directly harm anyone.  If it offends you indirectly, that's your own fault and should learn to ignore it.  For instance:

Let's say that I say "FF7 is the best game ever".  It's subjective, but it doesn't offend anyone directly because it's a positive thought as opposed to "FF7 is the most overrated game ever".  Both are direct sentences but only the first one is positive.  To say that you are offended by "FF7 is the best game ever" by saying that "it was stated in a factual preference instead of an opinion manner, so it offends me" tells me that you're just looking for an arguement.  This is the internet, it's obvious that people are going to say stuff like that, it's how internet culture works.  Although it is preferable to state IMO around statements like "X game is the best ever".  Which should be done everytime if possible.

Is it so hard for members of vgchartz to just lay off of other people's opinions and voice theirs objectively?

This will only take a moment of your time. *steals your watch*

Alright, my real choices:

Riku and the entire OrgXIII (except for Axel) from Kingdom Hearts

and those are really all, the rest I hate most others hate...

No, you don't apply subjective standards to positive words ando bjective standards to negative ones! That doesn't make any sense.

Negativity is fine.

You can't voice opinions objectively, that's.... well it's just literally impossible when it comes to the interpretation of art.

^^ so are you blaming of defending me @ Swyg

Cloud and Sephiroth

generic answer is generic (we will see it hundreds-> thousends of times), try to think a bit out of the box

This is one of the funniest/strangest replies I've ever seen to a thread like this. It's talking about the most overrated, and he simply gave the characters that fit the bill for him. You're asking him to go down his list to find ones that aren't mentioned as often? Then you're defeating the purpose of the thread.

Haha, this thread is funny. To say something nobody has said, I'll go with Zidane. And no, I'm not doing it to piss anyone, the monkey boy's really overrated. As is the entire cast of FFIX except for Vivi

Zidane? Overrated? I don't think so.

You don't like KH1 and think Zidane is overrated? I can't trust you anymore zexen! :P

Oh, yeah, as if you ever trusted me, right?

I've said it countless times that I've never liked FF9. I don't hate the game, but for it was a step backwards from FF7 and FF8. And I really felt the story and characters were mediocre (which is my main reason for not liking it, since the rest was ok)

Funny thing, I used to think Cloud and Seph were overrated, but the ammount of hate that surrounds them on the internet today kind of balances the praise out, don't you think? So now I think they are rated just fine.

Quem disse que a boca é tua?

Qual é, Dadinho...?

Dadinho é o caralho! Meu nome agora é Zé Pequeno!

I said that you could, you don't have to.  Flame wars excel at subjective negative opinions.

The downside to the rules I applied is that this place would be slightly boring.  Maybe it's because it's in human nature for certain entertainment to voice negatives.  Pain is a driving force, but maybe humans should just start to settle down and stop thinking about the next big thing.

Completely off topic:  Are some reasons wars start in the world just out of boredom?  Just something to think about.
