A few notes:

#1 Bioshock did overly impressive this week. A few weeks ago, I posted a thread asking what expectations for Bioshock's first week was. The average number for an "impressive" start was around 200-250k. What does that then, make it that it did almost double that? The sales for Bioshock are far exceeding anything anyone could of thought. However, next week, I would expect a strong dropoff (60-65%), but good legs afterwards.

#2 Madden dropped considerably. I anticipated 200-300k this week from the last week's thread. This is just outside of it (but inside of it, correcting for the fact that NCAA08 data was off, therefore M08 was changed by around 10% down). Expect a good, long, run for Madden. Nevertheless, it'll have more large drops for awhile.

#3 Two Worlds really outpreformed what I thought. With rather poor (70% avg) reviews, a near-130k start is great. However, expect it to drop real, real quick. Nevertheless, if Southpeak can fix the multiplayer, it could see RSV-esque legs as the game builds a core online following like RSV has.

Outside of the top 3, nothing incredibly amazing. Dead Rising jumped a few places, and GH2, RSV and GOW continue their incredible runs. Who says X360 games have no legs?

Bioshock was incredible. Bit disappointed that there wasnt a bigger hardware boost because of it, but hardware sales were still impressive. I can see MASSIVE USA sales for the 360 over the next four months if Microsoft cuts the price again towards the end of October (which they should, its had half the drops of the PS3 but been out twice the time).

good thread as always:)

IMO, I never thought Bioshock would be an instant system seller. In the US, you really don't see any one game really move alot of hardware on a given week, save for a few uber-games (such as OOT on N64).

Bioshock will move a few hardware units, but it won't be over a specific one week. Hopefully, it garners enough interest and looks from perspective owners to jump in on a X360 in the near future.

Launch titles move hardware! :P

Actually MrStickBall thats a good point. Any systems sold from bioshock will be sold through word of mouth over coming months, and as such will be impossible to track. Excellent post as always btw

Launch titles move hardware......In Japan. In the US? Not so much. It's been a real long time since a system stopped selling out quick in the US. Dreamcast, Xbox and GC were the last 3 systems to stop selling out within 4 month of sale. This gen, the X360 sold out for about 5mo, Wii for 9mo, and PS3 for about 3mo. Now, with those systems, any issues of failing to sell out (ie PS3) was due to price, not titles.

What matters far more than launch titles (atleast from what I've seen) is the software made from the 3-6mo post-launch period. Games in those areas can really make or break a system in the US. In the US for N64, we had only a handful of titles, but they were very well recieved (like Turok), but managed to break the system versus the much better-titles of PS1.

Launch titles help, but if there's no quick followup, the system sales will fold quickly. IMO, titles like GRAW1, Oblivion, Mario Party, Super Paper Mario, Motorstorm, and such were very important for their respective systems as they helped continue (or not really help) sales after they sold out.

nice, i hope bioshock sells 2 million in its life, it def deserves it

With regard to Call of Duty 4 having an ultra short single player campaign, I guess it may well have been due to the size limitations of DVD on the XBox 360, one of various limitations multi-platform game designers will have to take into consideration-Mike B

Game trailers-Halo 3 only dissapointed the people who wanted to be dissapointed.

Bet with Harvey Birdman that Lost Odyssey will sell more then Blue dragon did.

IMO, from a worldwide perspective, 2m is almost guarunteed.

question is .... how will this do in Japan. It will need good marketing to appeal and reach the audience.
