Forums - Gaming - Is Resident Evil franchise is dead-Have we seen the last good game of RE ?

But basically - I don't care what direction Resident Evil franchise goes in, If it is a good game, then I will enjoy it. Resident Evil 5 is NOT a good game. If it was not a Resident Evil game by name, then the scores would be a lot worse than they are already.

True, it's more action than horror, but that started with RE4.

Personally, I suspect the RE series WILL decline, not because it's going in a different direction, but because Mikami no longer works for Capcom. I didn't find this out until a few months back, but every single one of my favorite REs (the original, 2, REmake, and 4) was made by Mikami. He has a touch that no one else seems to be able to replicate, and I'll miss the guy.

Hopefully, Capcom finds an equally talented dude to take the helm. Although it sounds like lots of people are enjoying 5.

the action thing started with RE3, then skiped over to RE0, but still keeping horror elements, then RE4 came out as a complete action game

RE 5 was not a RE ....

it was a Gears of Wars with black zombies

you're absolutly right on this NeoGohan

im hoping that RE6 goes back to RE4 standards. More horror, less action

RE is still goin strong.

I agree that Resident Evil's evolution from horror game to action game probably could've been done in a way that satisfies fans of both genres, but I've been there since the beginning (when I bought my PS1, I came home with Resident Evil, Tomb Raider, and Battle Arena Toshinden). Resident Evil 5 is an awesome game! I'm enjoying the hell out of it, and after I learned about setting up my weapons and getting Sheva to do what I want, I am loving this game.

Don't be so quick to judge. Play this game!

Wtf are you talking about? Shouldn't you be happy for another mindless shooter game? Thats the future of gaming, embrace it as you have been already supporting it. ;)

I heard the same stuff after RE4 came out.

Listen, I'm a huge old school RE buff. I loved the old survival horror titles, and was admittedly bitter with Capcom for moving away from that style. At the same time RE4 was easily my favorite GC game, and the Wii version was even better.

RE5 is RE4 on steroids. Personally it is not my taste, I miss the puzzles (and Wii controls), but is is what it is, a further evolution down the path started by RE4. I have only played the demo of RE5 so I can't comment on story, but I think this brand has picked its audience, and some of us old fans have been excluded. That sucks for us, but the franchise will be just fine. With the failure of SH:Homecoming, I'm hoping we will have a real survival horror series again soon.

RE 5 is to RE4 what RE2 was to RE, an improvement.
