i definitely wouldn't be looking for a price drop till next fall. i mean they are the cheapest system on the market by 100 dollars, in the US at least (360 core doesn't count cuz its just a crap version of the real system) and are selling by far the best = no need to drop price. I think new colors will come out spring/summer next year which will bring in some more sales, and then expect a price drop (US down to 200, similar drop in other areas). They will still be selling the most all through next year and then next fall if they have a good holiday lineup plus a price drop they will dominate the holidays too, no reason to drop the price before that.
also yes get a wii now and you'll have wii sports(amazing!), get zelda, re4, and probably at least a copule other good games in australia. plus you can get amazing cube games like wind waker, eternal darkness, fzero, double dash, tales of symphonia, mario sunshine, rogue squadron 2, smash bros melee, mp, mp2, battalion wars, etc.
end of '08 predictions: wii - 43 million, 360 - 25 million, ps3 - 20 million
Games I've beat recently: Super Mario Galaxy, Knights of the Old Republic, Shadow of the Collossus
